I've almost finished going through my collection of problems. I've solved most of them before but this is the first time since I started playing again.

I don't have any of the classic problem sets like Gokyo Shumyo, Gokyo Seimyo, Xuanxuan Qijing, etc. There are a number of different editions of these old collections though and I don't know where to start looking. My main concerns are the accuracy of the problems and solutions followed by availabilty. If someone with more knowledge on the topic could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Start with the Chinese edition of Gokyo Shumyo
Cheap, in print, and a good starting point for classic problem collections. This should be the current most up to date version of this classic.

If you want to try the followup Gokyo Seimyo, there is no modern physical version. But you can try the problems in the Gokyo Seimyo Tsumego Series which was brought to Sensei's Library by yours truly :)

YMI seems to have that version of Gokyu Shumyo in stock as well as a version of Igo Hatsuyoron by the same publisher. I saw on your blog that there is another new edition of Hatsuyoron as well but it would probably be more difficult for me to get. Do you think it would be worth the extra effort/cost to get the newer one?

Probably cheaper for you to try to buy them from dangdang and you get the newer version of Igo Hatsuyoron.

YMI prices
Brilliancies from Go Classics - Gokyo Shumyo USD18.69
Analysis of Generating Yang - Igo Hatsuyoron USD24.89
Total USD43.58

Dangdang prices using google to convert (RMB to USD)
Gokyo Shumyo RMB16.30 (equal to USD2.59)
Research on Weiqi Fa Yang Lun (Research on Igo Hatsuyoron) RMB80.80 (equal to USD12.84)
Let's say shipping doubles the price in the worse case.
Total: USD15.43 X 2 = USD30.86

Check my thread on Collecting Chinese Go Books for some useful info on how to order from dangdang.

Thanks for the info. The shipping is a little concerning to me. I'd prefer more secure packaging and moonrabbit said that it took about 2 months to receive his order. Thanks again for letting me know about some other options though.
