I just received my silicone go travel set. Here's a very brief review (and invitation to questions if you have any)

The board is an extremely flexible sheet of silicone. Very similar to what I use as base to make cookies in the oven.

It's so flexible that you can fold it in nine to store it inside the bag that comes with the set. Stored, it takes about as much space as a half paper sheet notebook.

The stones are made of a plastic that weight somewhat more than one would expect. They are really thin compared to my other stones. Because of the materials of board and stones, they don't glide over one another at all; to the point that if you want to move a stone you have to pick it up and place it again.

The entire set is completely waterproof.

In all: It's a goban I can carry with its stones in a small box (about one and a half usual wooden bowl in total size) and that I wouldn't mind placing on a wet and dirty table around which people are drinking beers and eating chips. Exactly what I was looking for.

That's great! What country are you in? It seems the only silicone Go board in the United States is the Wood Expressions one.

Standard go boards, when labeled, have A1 in the lower left with letters across the bottom. The pictures of the WE silicone board are different (at least in the pictures): letters increasing across the bottom and A1 in the upper left.

Can you remark on what set you have, if it has row and column labels, and whether those labels are in the correct orientation?

Thanks!

I'm in Spain, it is the WE set that I tried to buy some weeks ago, fruitlessly, and that I found again in Amazon through a different seller that did ship to Spain, "Funagain Games USA".

The labels are in the wrong orientation indeed, so to read it from 1A to 19T you have to read the letters upside down.

Alguien, could you post a few photos of your new silicone travel set, and if possible include some close-up shots too ? :)

Maybe these will do until Alguien can respond.

msgreg, thank you. The double magnet stones remind me of a yo-yo, or some alien spaceship. :)

I remember someone in the forum looking for a magnetic set with stones that could be used on both sides. This might suit him/her perfectly.

Need to do some searching.

Edit: found it: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7274
