You have to have confidence. If while playing this game I slip into the attitude of, "Oh he's really good at embarrassing people weaker than him; I better play it extra safe," I've already lost. That's why in my game against lovelove I often quoted Rainbow Dash or various other characters from shows or games I've watched/played - besides just being fun, it also puts me in a positive and confident mood as I play my move.

This attitude is pretty well summed up by STAR_, my favorite Team Fortress 2 commentator, in the first half of this video.

So, right here, I am declaring that I am expecting to win this game. Whether I actually do is another question, but I don't intend to play like he's stronger than me. He'll have to prove that he is.

If he had played 3-4 or some other asymmetric corner move, I might've as well, in order to make miai of the two points. Here though, if I play something asymmetric, he would have a sort of tedomari play by approaching my assymetric stone. That's how I tend to think of two-stone handicap openings, though I've never actually had this thinking verified as sound by a stronger player.

Playing black with a two-stone handicap could be considered somewhat similar to playing white in an even game, in that your opponent starts off with sente in both. The difference is that, in two-stone games, you're starting off with an even bigger head start. So I'll just start this game like I start most of my games as white - by letting my opponent decide the general shape of the fuseki, and then reacting based on that.

This is a fun game already.

His move seems like the type of move you play to make the game confusing. I thought about various places to play on the bottom, but I wasn't really satisfied with any of them. So I decided to take this point instead. If it was his turn instead of mine, would be a key place he would like to play, as it functions as both an extension from his top-right stone and as a move that forms a large framework. So by playing it myself I pincer his stone and limit the development of his framework. Also, with this move in play, various moves along the bottom side of the board start to look more attractive.

So, I decided to just push straight through his shape. I don't feel I'm at a disadvantage in the fight that's coming up, and in fact by cutting off his one stone I already feel that I have gained something from the fight.
