I can't resist reading your hides, Graham. It's a long way from over. Your k8 structure is pretty formidable. Last time I tried going small against a beginner in square Oust, I succeeded, but just barely. Oust is not a game of parity like Dots and Boxes. It certainly can feel like it because the board gradually fills, leading to an "event" of some sort, like the first player who has to make a kill (assuming they're both reluctant), or the first to make a big group, etc. But such events are not decisive. Oust is a game of comebacks. Whoever loses the event can still win. |
