Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Oren and I have scheduled our game for Monday, July 25 - 8:00PM MDT (7PM PDT).
I assume we'll be playing in the Lifein19x19 room.
Let me know if this doesn't match up Oren!

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
here is beta version of alternative tournament bracket, designed for self-administration (based on the Araban's table)
however, i was pretty lazy when writing it, so it may contain various bugs and you should definitely post your set dates and final results here as a backup.
also: losers' bracket is not yet prepared, because i don't know how it will exactly look. background colours are yet to be inserted semi-manually by me. once inserted data cannot be automatically changed, so be careful when sending them and PM me if anything goes wrong. i was indecisive about who should be authorized to insert data, in the end it is allowed to anyone with the password: "19x19". i hope there won't be any malicious users inserting nonsenses, otherwise i would have to come up with a more sophisticated protection
if anyone wanted to take my code and improve it, just PM me and i will send you the source code

Whoops, guess I missed this! Although, probably would not have participated even if I noticed earlier. Too rusty. Just dropping by to give a good luck to all participants involved!
I know nothing.

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Well, seems I was not the only one inspired to write some code for this.
Anyway, it is moot now, but here's my attempt:
http://hiddema.nl/l19.html
(note: this is not the same bracket that Joaz made, as it is auto-generated)
You can drag & drop the KGS nicknames to empty cells to enter results, or drop them on top of another player to swap their positions. There's no backend to it (yet), and a lot of automation could be added (such as automatically moving losers into their correct place).
The html file can be used completely standalone. Just drag&drop some results, then save the html file locally, and it'll remember the results and still work.

Although we all probably appreciate the easy-to-read versions like this:

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Karaklis and I played our game. He won by 62.5 points. I was black, he was white.
Here's the game:
He dismantled me pretty easily.
I will also be posting in the analysis forum since I want to get better. I also want to wish Karaklis good luck.

i don't think it is moot. if nothing else, your AJAX looks much better than my php and is much more comfortable to use. i can't compete with thatHermanHiddema wrote:Well, seems I was not the only one inspired to write some code for this.

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Jordus hasn't read my PM's since Wednesday, so I don't know when our game will be. Hopefully during next week, since after that I will be on a summer cabin with unreliable internet.

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Do we need to wait until all of round 1 is finished before starting round 2, or can we begin as soon as we know who the opponent will be? Also how are colors determined?

No problem as long as both players agree.emeraldemon wrote:Do we need to wait until all of round 1 is finished before starting round 2, or can we begin as soon as we know who the opponent will be?...
Higher ranked - according to the hidden list at the bottom of post #1 in this thread - gets white. ( In your particular instance, you get white vs Hushfield )emeraldemon wrote:... Also how are colors determined?

I'm posting this assuming that Hushfield is still in shock from the win.Aphelion wrote:Update: Hushfield beat me by resignation.

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS
Excuse me for not posting the result and sgf here earlier. I had read over the following lines in your original post:Joaz Banbeck wrote:I'm posting this assuming that Hushfield is still in shock from the win.![]()
Having missed that, I got all worried about etiquette, and who should post what, so I waited.Joaz Banbeck wrote:When the game is over, the winner should post the result with an SGF in this thread. ( If I don't see an SGF in this thread, it never happened and you don't get credit for the win. )
Playing in this tournament is a really nice experience. I have never been so nervous for a game as today. Aphelion and I agreed to play our game about an hour after we saw each other online, and in that hour I just wandered restlessly through the appartement. The idea that there were going to be people watching the game made it considerably worse actually, so by the time the game was scheduled to start, my fingers were ice cold from the adrenaline. It's nice to get excited over a match, I haven't felt that way in quite some time. Thanks for the good times, L19.
