Hi,

after some Go abstinence I'm kind of back. There are a lot of currently running and finished games. Could anyone point me to some especially entertaining or educational ones?

Or, since this viewpoint is quite subjective, what are your favourite malkovich games?

Cheers,
Michael

Anything where Magicwand is one of the players

Anything between two dan-level players

Educational: When I try to find games to play for education, I look for players 5 stones stronger than myself. That way, shape and play is better than yours, but the reading is not such that it will be entirely incomprehensible.

Entertaining: Perhaps try MW and Violence's games? Those were pretty entertaining. One of my own favorite games was my own against Fwiffo, because it was, after a certain point, a battle of constant escalation. However, I'm biased towards that game because I played in it; I know it's not nearly as high-quality as the dan games. On the other hand, I put it and all comments into a sgf, so it's fairly quick to plow through, at least.

I recommend the 'big brother' Malkovich games. You get to see the proposed move by a 5Kish player, an improvement by a 1D player, and then a final correction by a mid-dan player. The difference in how players of different ranks think about moves can be very enlightening.

Magicwand vs. Violence was pretty epic. The current game between Magicwand and Araban has excellent comments by both players.

Can't believe no one recommends the Magicwand vs. Kirby game before the current one. It was really action packed. Magicwand vs. Topaz was also good. Maybe I'm just remembering recent games.

My favorite was Alakazam vs. Shapenaji, but that was back on GoDiscussions, and I didn't make an archive of the game unfortunately. Since GoDiscussions fails to load any page with a diagram in it, I don't think that game is currently attainable.

That's unfortunate. I find it astonishing and a bit sad that we still do not have this archive access up and running.

I agree. I find it a bit annoying that this hasn't been made public yet. If there are problems with the database (as Jordus indicated), I wish that the database was at least publicly available - maybe someone might be able to solve it then, or at least extract individual threads from it when desired.
