1) Area scoring rules are much easier (and especially for beginners) than [traditional] territory scoring rules.

2) Chinese rules are much easier than, say, Japanese rules, because their disputes can be solved easily. E.g., by clarifying whether there shall be recompensation for a handicap.

3) Unlike simple area scoring rules, Chinese rules have ambiguities: a) about the exact scoring procedure in case of disagreement, b) the ko rules for long cycles, c) possible handicap recompensation.

Chinese rules are not as simple as simple area scoring rules can be. Therefore, I am not sure whom you are referring to. Of course, Chinese rules can have disputes, are not quite as easy as simple area scoring rules and are nevertheless much easier than territory scoring rules.

Just what I would have expected. Taking my quote out of context and trying to make an issue of it.

Out of context? Nah, the four quotation marks make it clear that you're stating a sincerely held opinion here.

Let's be fair. Robert started a new thread to avoid hijacking the other one. That is why the quote is out of context. Robert is conforming to the norms of this forum.

As for making an issue out of the relative difficulty of the Chinese rules, that is a separate question.
