Post subject:  Another Recommendation for Kaz

I'd like to tell you how some of my games are going since I started Kaz's Internet Go School. When I started taking lessons, I was on a long losing streak against my friend. He has been playing for exactly as long as I have since we played our first game together. We play about once a week and always in person. As of our last game 2 weeks ago, I have won our last 5 games! I killed a large group in each of the last two games, which was a really great feeling.

After 3 lessons over 3 months, my rank on OGS is 15 kyu, 4 ranks better than at the beginning of the year! Players at the club where I play in person have commented on how quickly I'm progressing. I don't even know what my goal should be because I didn't expect to rank up this fast! Probably single-digit kyu!

Each lesson has been about a bad habit that Kaz has found in the games I sent him for review. The first was on my response to the 1 space low pincer by a 4-4 and about sealing in my opponents groups. I like how lessons are based on my biggest weaknesses. I liked the first lessons enough to pay for 11 lessons in advance.

I work full time and I'm married with kids, so I don't have a lot of free time to study, and yet I've already reached my goal for the year which was 15 kyu I look forward to big progress this year!

If you want to verify, you can look me up on OGS as RegularPerson. Hit me up for a game if you want!

Hi RegularPerson,

Congrats.

If you don't mind, could you let us know your starting age range, and how long you had been
playing Go before your first lesson with Mr. Kaz ?
( Example: Under 10 years old; 10 - 20 years old; 20 - 30 years old; 30+ years old, etc.)
Based on the marriage with kids, I've ruled out you're currently under 10 years old. :)

Please feel free to provide as little (zero) or as much (detailed) info of the time durations as you like.
Thanks.

Hey EdLee,
Happy to provide some detail. I'm 33. I've been playing since summer of 2014.

From what I understand Kaz isn't taking new students anymore? At least that's what it currently says on his website. I was interested but didn't inquire because of this.

This is apparently true three months later!

Maybe he has his hands full? He can only teach so many disciples at once.
