Myungwan Kim, 9-dan pro from Korea, is visiting Seattle through December 6. (Then he's going to Portland for a few days, before returning to Korea.) While he's here, he's agreed to play simuls twice, and give a couple of lectures, including a presentation on his invention "Connect Go". Schedule: Sat. 2019-11-30 - 1:00pm-3:00pm - Simultaneous games. All 8 slots are claimed, but if you want to get on the alternate list, send email to programs@SeattleGo.org Sat. 2019-11-30 - 3:00pm-5:00pm - Connect Go presentation. Mr. Kim will talk about Connect Go, a simplified form of Go that has been shown to be useful in reaching neurologically atypical individuals, such as people on the autism spectrum. (It is not "First Capture / Atari Go".) Benefits for impacted individuals include improved social skills, increased attention span, etc. Sat. 2019-11-30 - 5:00pm-5:30pm - Pizza! Sat. 2019-11-30 - 5:30pm-7:30pm - Lecture "Pro game analysis using AI, and the difference from human" Sun. 2019-12-01 - 9:00am-11:00am - Connect Go seminar. Sun. 2019-12-01 - 10:00am-5:00pm - Tournament! This is the Go Center's monthly 3-rounnds AGA ratings tournament. No entry fee (but AGA membership must be current). Register at the Go Center, 10:00-10:45am. Sun. 2019-12-01 - 11:00am-12:30pm - Game reviews. Mr. Kim will give brief reviews of a few of the first-round games. Mon. 2019-12-02 - 6:30pm-8:30pm - Double Digit Kyu lecture. This is Nick Sibicky's popular and long-running weekly class, for which Nick earned the 2019 AGA Teacher of the Year award. Myungwan Kim will be the honored guest lecturer. Tue. 2019-12-03 - 6:30pm-8:30pm - Connect Go seminar. Thu. 2019-12-05 - 6:30pm-8:30pm - Simultaneous games. As of Saturday Nov. 30, early AM, slots are still open; if you want to reserve a spot, email programs@SeattleGo.org Fri. 2019-12-06 - 1:00pm-3:00pm - Simultaneous games in Lakewood, WA. On the way to Portland, OR, Mr. Kim will stop at the Lakewood Baduk Club, and play simultaneous games. Lakewood is a little south of Tacoma, WA, and north of Olympia, WA.
