Re: unprofessional behavior from KGS admins during/after jub
Don't worry xDragon, getting banned for admins having different points of view of the same TOS is a rite of passage on KGS. The best way I've found is getting to know each of the admins and learning what their views and interpretations of the TOS. Personally I think grey area issues like this could ...

Re: Tygem on Android through vnc.
I've been using SwiftGo on my phone to watch tygem games. It isn't in the marketplace so you have to download it manually. It gets the job done. You can only watch and it has some problems when you tilt or open a physical keyboard but as long as you keep it upright and don't use the keyboard it ...

Re: Handicap stones
The handicap only applies to 19x19 currently. Even though it displays 7 stones on 9x9. In reality it will be an even game when the game starts.

Re: Time settings?
I'm going to assume many of you have little to no experience with servers other than KGS. Many of the other servers including yahoo, playok, flyordie, tygem and wbaduk have this problem. It seems that servers with less admins or more lax rules have this problem more, probably why this concept seems ...

Re: AGA Announces New Pandanet-AGA City League
Why should it? You will never turn people into spectators for Go events, who never took up and learned Go at least to a certain degree and this is the main difference to all those other examples, that are either accessible to non-players or based on a game which is widely known already (I doubt ...

KGS kibitz policy
I have seen many admins warn about keeping discussions or comments game related in kibitz. That got me thinking, what exactly was the kibitz policy? I decided to look it up and found it in the kgs help pages. m

Re: Who will the first US pros be?
I don't see where they get 16.
I believe the way it works is 2 players from the cotsen, 1 from seattle, 1 from maryland then 7 from the tygem online qualifier. That makes 11. The last 5 will be filled by seeded players. The seeded players will be top ranking AGA and CGA amateurs. Though I'm not ...

Re: Who will the first US pros be?
They make money by selling ads on the stream and the rate seems to be something on the order of 0.2 cents per viewer per ad. It's typical to see 4000+ viewers for a top player, showing an average of four ads per hours. It yields $32/hour, which is more than competitive with working at McDonald's ...

Only person I know for sure is going for it is Bill Lin CGA 7d.

Re: BC card cup starts
Personally, I think the most promising future star is Mi Yuting. 16 years old and defeated Lee Changho.
Many people would agree with you. He is well known for being a rising star. He is one of the top players on tygem named Strive and has a very good record against top pros. Another player to ...

Re: Initiatives for a Professional System in the West
I too think it is a waste of money to establish an organization that would be inferior to East from the very beginning. We don't have enough good players, and even if europe had 3 Dinerchteins, it wouldn't be enough…

Re: Initiatives for a Professional System in the West
Tchan, sorry my comment wasn’t really directed at the current financing part of the discussion. I was solely commenting on the rational of previous comments stating that a professional organization shouldn’t be started until the members have the ability to compete on even footing with other ...

Re: Initiatives for a Professional System in the West
Why would western players currently not being strong enough to compete vs. Asian professionals ever be a reason not to start a professional organization? In the beginning of all organizations few to none of the professionals could compete with the organization they emulated and many still can’t. You ...
