Re: Cgoban being blocked in a future Java security update?

Dear all,

I just upgraded JAVA and now 'my security settings' in JAVA
wouldn't allow me to run cgoban.
(despite that I clicked somewhere on 'trust')

How do I get cgoban running?

Above explanations where not yet helpful, I do not get to the stage where I could assign 'exceptions'.
Who has ...

Re: WAGC 2013

Merlijn Kuin (6d) for the Netherlands.

Dear Herman,

would you know were to get Merlijn games' SGF?

Esp. of 34th WAGC – Choi vs Kuin,
because of Redmond's commentary on the game itself and the Carpenter's Square in general.

Or is there a way to get the SGF from this site:

Re: FunNode.com - A Modern Go Server - Seeking Feedback

The "I" (("I ") can be mistaken for an "j" (" J ") in many fonts and the expectations of many players (majority ?) for K10 = tengen, Q4 = hoshi an T = last line cannot be underestimated.

I cannot recall having ever seen a printed Go diagram with coordinates ...I-j-k-l...

Re: Fuseki in 2-stone handicap game

Clearly there are some high-dan-reviewers around here.

A sparkle of (useless/usefull ?) wisdom lies in a Chinese saying "shuoqilai rongyi - zuoqilai nan " (←→ it's easy to talk, but difficult to do/achieve).

I only speak for myself when stating that I'd be happy to be forced (by B10) too make ...

Re: Fuseki in 2-stone handicap game

1. diagram:
A and B do not feel miai in my opinion, as when Black takes the corner with A,
white has to extend to B for safety, yet without further benefits.
You could add a C - the 2-point extension of black's kakari
and state 'if white A, then Black B - hence White A is sente'
and imply that you ...

Re: How good was this game?

Welcome back after 4 years!

Your order of moves are missing, which makes it more difficult to give advice.

On your level you should have tried the cutting points on the right and maybe White could have pulled something of withe the cutting points + the throw-in on the top.

Hey Anders,

that's great news!

slightly OT, but related to SmartGo:

When will SmartGo be available on Android?

Re: Solving life-and-death tsumegos by trial and error

At the level of life-and-death tsumegos that I am currently doing (around 15 kyu level, so it says), for most of them there are only a few reasonable first moves, and then all follow-up moves stay on one or two narrow paths until success or failure. Therefore, you can almost find your first move by ...

- make it possible to delete a game with a wrong (i.e. unwished) timesetting before the first move (has been played).

- "Too many active connections already" is the message I do see since 24 hours.

- "Players Waiting: 1" BUT I cannot join the game, probably because the other player is long gone ...
