Re: How to make KGS better?

The main reason I play mainly on the other servers is that I don't like KGS' "escaper-friendly" policy.
On the other servers, if you leave a game for any reason, your clock keeps running. If you lose internet connection (rare nowadays), you have 5 minutes to re-connect, and if you don't re-connect ...

Re: Scheduling online games

I must say that sandbaggers don't really bother me - I just regard a loss against a sandbagger as a free training game - but I see escapers as the big weakness of KGS.
I don't understand why escapers should bother you -- just use the same attitude as you have with sandbaggers -- you have a free ...

Javascript runs in all environments, so if your preference for Java is its support from all envs, we have that covered.

More than that, the whole idea of an application you have to download has way more friction and secrecy than a webclient.

Picture the following 2 scenarios with the way pretty ...

Re: A new server is being developed: Kaya.gs

If you want to target now mobile devices for all 2.5major platforms, even C#(with MonoTouch help) is better solution than java on client side.
I don't regard C#/Mono as a solution at all, because as a user of the client, I don't want to be restricted to the platforms which you (or anyone else ...

Re: A new server is being developed: Kaya.gs

Rating system: i want to implement an ELO system, very much like Wbaduk and Tygem and most Asian servers. I will make it so that the first set of games define the rank like KGS does which i think is the only advantage of the system.
So a few games to get a solid rank quickly, and then a ...

Re: Scheduling online games

KGS seems to be the server of choice for most of us, but there are a few things that people complain about, such as escapers and sandbaggers.
I think the solution to the problems that KGS suffers from is competition from other servers. IGS has got much better this year with its new client. I must ...

Intermediate Level, Opening 200, #20

Gochild problems, Intermediate Level, Opening 200, #20: the answer given is: Black plays at H4. But it seems to me that White can get a good result by playing G4. Then if Black blocks at G5, White can cut at H5. As Black, I would have considered H5 instead of H4.

I'm not saying the problem is wrong ...
