Re: Rank Conversion
If I remember correctly I played a bit on tygem as 5k KGS, and lost more than half at 9k tygem. But perhaps that was just caused by me being unfamiliar with their style, so it's hard to say.

Re: simple mistakes
When my opponent plays a self-atari I often marvel at how I missed that wondrous move and curse the dead spot in my reading. And only later I realize that the reason I didn't read the move was because it's a totally brain dead self-atari.

Re: Not saving games on windows 7?
You'll find the games in the "C:\Users\YourSessionName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\TygemGlobal\Games" path in Win7 (at least that's where my games are).
The games are in the .gib format so you'll have to convert them into sgf (i use multigo for that).

Re: Learning how to deal with the L-groups
I'm a 3k, I don't have them memorized, and I can't read them(or at least I don't in a typical game).

Or if you preferred a minimalistic style, you could have simply gone with "Lee Sedol".

Re: Java security problem
I think there were two sandbox breaking vulnerabilities. The second one was published about a day after the first was fixed. I'm not sure if the second one is already fixed.
IMO the best solution, regardless of the patch is to deactivate java plugins(sandbox breaking is a big deal there) but to ...

Uninstalling Java is a bit of an overreaction. Disable the Java browser plugins.

Intransparent moderation
One thing that really annoys me about L19 is how intransparent moderation is. Moderators delete posts and ban users without any public record.
I'd like a change of ToS in order to allow discussion of moderation issues (perhaps in a "Meta" subforum). I'd also like a thread in which moderators keep a ...

Re: Excessive banning on L19
Robert is a difficult case. On the one hand he has valuable contributions and means well. On the other hand the amount of thread derailments he caused or triggered is unparalleled.

Re: To German native speakers: Why don't we write in German?
Because mentally translating from English to German is inconvenient. Thinking about certain topics (programming, go,...) in English is easier for me than thinking about them in German.

Re: How do you 'see' and retain stone positions while readin
One thing I do to train my visualization is playing games on small boards(such as 5x5) against myself in my mind, trying to read it out completely, just like a go problem.

Rand dies but gets better.
I'm also voting Elayne, but that's just wishful thinking. Please use balefire so powerful that she gets burned out of all books.
I think it was mentioned in the story itself that Graendal was responsible for the death of two forsaken, implying asmo and the one who died ...
