Hi,
I am just curious, when you play on a smaller board, should the Komi be the same as it is on a full size board?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Why are all go sites so 1990s?
While the original poster might've been a troll, I do have to agree on topic. It seems Go world definitely has it's share of ugly web sites and application UIs.

Re: Why are all go sites so 1990s?
Its a shame, that some people seem to live only to try and ruin things for others. I actually think that there are some fantastic Go sites out there that feature functional designs, clear content and are not bandwidth hogs. Certainly some sites like goproblems.com and the Interactive Way to Go make ...

Re: Click happy when playing online
Well, I don't know if it is because I am playing online (since I have yet to have the time to get to the local Go club, which meets 10 minutes from my house.... such is the life of the father of a 2 year old ), but I know I play way too fast. Its even worse when I am playing a computer program (9X9 ...

But if you don't honestly think there might be a way to live but you think your opponent may not know the right way (for example in a nine stone handicap game), what then? dick move or not?

Re: Neurological study regarding Go's effects on the brain
You're probably right. But also, if such tests are so good at judging true intelligence, how come we are still unable to predict who will be the next Einstein or Hawking?
Don't ask me, I pointed out that they measure intelligence rather crudely. It might be better to say they measure the ability ...

Re: Neurological study regarding Go's effects on the brain
Just a general thought on the original subject. Frankly IQ's are a very crude method of measuring human intelligence and the IQ tests generally have to make all sorts of assumption about education, culture, etc. In other words, it almost certainly can't deal with special circumstances like ...

Re: Disc 12 and beyond -- Hikaru no Go DVD's
Just today, I accidentally discovered that Netflix is streaming all 75 episodes of the Hikaru DVD. These are the Viz Media produced versions (English titles, credits, etc.). But they are only showing them in Japanese language (which many people prefer, I think) with English subtitles, rather then ...

Curious about go equipment in Korea and China
I know much of how American's see Go comes from the fact that it was introduced to this country through Japan, thus our terms, and many of our preferences are dictated by Japanese preferences.

Re: Blitz or not?
Lo
I've got a question wrt practice of blitz game. I heard from some stronger players that it can hurt beginners to play blitz (like 1mn + 5x0:30 byo-yomi). According to your experience, does the playing of blitz slow the progress of a player or prevent him to go beyond a certain level?

Re: beating a dead horse: my thoughts on suicide.
Premature means the game is void, with no win or draw. It does not matter when the game ends, so long as it has a conclusion.
Ok, I know checkers and chess have to end in a win and a draw. There is no position on board, where the game cannot advance to one of those conclusions. So other than ...

Thanks everyone for their replys so far. Perhaps it might help you give me better feedback if I give you some of my preferences. Roughly in order of preference.
