It's a five-game match. The first three games are scheduled for October 4th, 11th, 18th. The other two (which may not be needed) have not yet been scheduled.

Re: Human-Computer Go challenge, starting this Saturday
To answer the third question (yoyoma has given good answers to the first two): Crazy Stone does time management, just as human players do. It spends more time on mid-game moves than on end-game moves; the time it spends it influenced by how much it has left; it plays obvious moves faster than ...

Human-Computer Go challenge, starting this Saturday
A three-game match will be played on KGS between Franz-Josef Dickhut, German 6-dan, and Crazy Stone, 6-dan program by Rémi Coulom.
It will be played over three Saturdays, October 4th 11th and 18th, starting at 16:00 CEST, which I believe is 14:00 UTC. You will be able to watch the games as they are ...

Re: Warning, Yunzi Stones Are Dangerous To Health
I wouldn't be worried by lead in glass Go stones.
Lead in paint is a serious problem. Children can eat flakes of it, and can be poisoned as a result. But this happens because flakes of paint are to some extent soluble. But glass is not soluble; not in water, not in stomach acid and other acids ...

Re: Score estimator
I am sure that writing a new Score Estimator from scratch would be a better option than trying to improve the existing one. Installing one from elsewhere might well be better than either.

Re: Opening Question
This is weird. When I look at the posted position, the stones do not land on the intersections. I have never had this problem before, and am using the same browser as usual (Chrome).

Re: 5kyu triple Ko game, really weird shape, would love a re
You are right to be proud, you outplayed White throughout the game. You were already well ahead when he flipped his lid and filled his own liberty so as to lose the "fight" in the bottom right. I believe that, played correctly, you had the choice of playing the triple ko so as to achieve "no result ...

Re: Go on a Sphere or other 4 connected graph
If you want to play on something like a sphere, you can use a small rhombicosidodecahedron, with 60 4-connected vertices.
If all you want to do is use a board with no edges, you can use a torus, of any size. But this gives a rather dull game, as it is hard to make any territory, and whole-board ...

Re: stone clicking sound missing - windows 7
Many thanks to Nick23 for his fix. By using it I have at last got my stone clicks back.

I believe that the user 'DrStraw' has such a list. You could ask him about it.

Re: Resisting "nothing to lose" opponents.
The phrase "avoiding excessive reductions" shows where you are going wrong. From what you say, these reductions are often successful. This shows that they are not excessive.
Your mistake is in thinking that your frameworks deserve to be territory, even though they aren't strong enough.

Re: lag SUCKS
The lag on KGS that began at 00:00 UTC on July 1st was caused by the leap second. Many Unix systems were affected, see e.g. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/07/02 ... _airlines/
It was fixed, as far as KGS was concerned, by a reboot at around 03:00 UTC on July 1st.

Re: Computer Go and Komi?
For the 9x9 bot tournaments I run on KGS (the next one is this Sunday, Feb. 5th, see m) I have been asked by the programmers to use komi of 7. This is to minimise the advantage to either player. They use Chinese rules.
I suppose you could try to measure the correct komi by setting a bot to take ...

Your survey has a question
"7. Rate How intrested you would be in these features"
followed by a set of questions, each with six buttons to show degree of "intrest". But there is no indication of what the buttons mean.
