Re: On handling online cheating with AI

I'd posit there's two types of cheaters: people who just run the bot and destroy their opponent, who want to play the best move every move. And people who want to get away with cheating, who spot check for blunders or the occasional tricky move, but who are savvy enough to not blindly play clearly ...

You might want to visit our website (see my signature below). Nearly every question you might have is already answered there.

But, as a matter of course, I will still answer your questions here.

Found it on your site, it is a bit difficult to navigate.

Re: KataGo @ Igo Hatsuyoron 120

Cassandra wrote:Black occupies the same number of liberties of White's group at the left edge.
If it is the same number of liberties, white would win semeai.
When they come to five liberties each, white can eat center group, and capture black's group.

Do you have variation with start of liberty filling?

What happens if at this, or some earlier stage, white starts to fill in black's liberties in upper right?

I see now, eating back 4 stones would create more liberties for W in lower right group.

Re: Visiting Beijing for a few days: any advice?

Need info on weiqi shops in Beijing.
Mainly for stones and bowls.

I have visited one nice shop during WMSG, but it was 11 years ago, and I don't even remember its name.

Re: IMSA World Masters

1. Why do photos show players using ordinary bowls and not the Ing monstrosities that were more like a toy for 2-year-olds. I can understand players not liking them, but I thought they were integral to scoring the game correctly? Have they been superseded? If so, what is the new counting procedure ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

Just to note something important on lag, and organizer's lack of knowledge:

- lag between server and player's computer is always present .
In most of cases, it is so small that it is impossible to notice. It must be there, due to laws of physics and equipment performance.
Sometimes, it could be ...

Anyway i could rewrite my paragraph to this:
"Also, several ppl commented that state on board should not be considered when delivering ruling.Lets assume that this principle stands.Suppose if in game Lui-Surma, it was Lui who had irreversable huge lead (and same as in real Surma lagged). How now ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

i really don't understand why should resuming play set a precedent?
Rules say that if you run out of time you lose.
This case would be precedent, because it goes against this rule.

It could be later added as addition to current rule as:
"If a player tries to play on time, but he is stopped by ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

ps1. If someone has leela-zero or is a high dan player, it would be nice to inform us of how many moves were left and how many of them were dame. Maybe, the difference of the points between excellent and "mediocre" play could be calculated and compared with the 10 point lead by black.
This should ...

Re: rule discussion

I was under the wrong impression that bent-four is automatically dead in the Japanese rules...

I had no idea about "unremovable ko threats"; maybe never too late to learn the rules of this game :-)
I think that there is no rule that bent-four is automatically dead.
It was just explanation that ...
