Re: Future projects on KGS

[mof quote]

I'm going to go ahead and take a shot in the dark and say that the Buddy list issue started around the time the player notes feature was added? One change that happened is that when you are on the buddies list you now not only need to type in the name of the player you want to buddy ...

Re: Future projects on KGS

One of my friends on kgs menyioned that one idea for improving kgs is to have an opponents list next to the buddies list. I wanted to throw this out here if anyone liked it enough to think it could be something one could add to kgs

Re:

I've thought that for at least 2 years. Welcome to the forum, EeveeM.

Thank you Edlee ^^ It's nice to be here. I find all sorts of interesting things to learn about :3

so.. is kyu a japanese term or a chinese term (originally)? When I read, I tend to think it's both, but there's something that ...

Re: How to be overconfident

going H1 instead of F4 I think would've gotten it closer to a tie. 2 more points for 2.
if you don't like H1, do G1, it also takes away a point from black, but you lose sente doing it
not sure why but that seems better.

The character 級, pronounced 'kyuu' (long 'uu' sound) in Japanese,
means: level/grade/class/rank/step/degree, but not stone.

Ah, ok, ^^ thanks Edlee. I'm glad I got corrected. I've thought that for at least 2 years.

Javaness, you were asking to learn it in the first place, I think it's understandable why you wouldn't want to teach it.

I was just asking if I could learn with

Re: I'm terrible as white!

if you're terrible as white, it's simple just play as black
if you're a 9d as black you're still 9d! even if you're only like 1k as white

all joking aside
black gets to choose how the opening is played
white usually gets too choose too but his options are limited to black's favor

I agree with ...

Re: AGA Online Pair Go Tournament in June

how hard is it? I've only attended one tournament, but I've never heard the other side of how much work had to be done to put it together, sorry if I'm too curious.

Re: What does 'kyu' mean?

the word "kyu" I believe means 'stone' in translation

if you look into how the levels and handicap is used, each kyu level up means you lose by 10 stones less etc. f.e. a 4k would need to have a 2 stone handi against a 2k. On top of that, if a 4k played against a 2k even, theoretically (often not ...

Re: AGA Online Pair Go Tournament in June

isn't it hard to know what to expect on an online tournament? It's hard to know how many people could be interested and could decide to go or not, isn't it?

Re: Any general tips on how to contain an invasion?

experimenation, experience, time, and effort. with practically all of these you can benefit. The conclusion is just look at the board, and determine from the situation. If you wonder if a situation could be better from a specific set up, ask an experienced player, and they can give you some insight ...

Re: I'm terrible as white!

one thing I've noticed when I play w, is that because I end up "behind" because b gets the first move, I have to compensate for it somehow. Learning how to use sente (or keeping the first move so your opponent has to respond instead of play elsewhere) is something that helped me a lot when learning ...

Re: Future projects on KGS

so.. from what I understand. Is it safe to say that when using a mac, you could use Control C and Control V to copy and paste instead of command? That's something I didn't understand when I first started using a mac so that would explain why I've been confused.

If this is correct, then my problem ...

Re: Go for French

for me, written is my biggest flaw. Spoken tends to come with use, which I haven't had much of. The order of words sometimes confuses me as well.

would you still be willing to teach either of us (him over me because he brought it up) french seeing as you're stronger than 10k?
