Re: Go related software development opportunities
I'm not sure if this falls into the realm of possibility for you, but I've thought for quite some time about a website or server where two players would not play go directly against each other, but each get the same set of tsumego and a fixed amount of time to complete them. Whoever scores best ...

Re: Chinese School of Chess
Chinese thinking about games is different from the west's, and how this is reflected in styles.
That is an interesting post I have always thought that the contrast between east and west was simplicity vs. precision, but applying that to games I could see how it could come across as passive but ...

Re: Is it possible to play Go without strategy?
I think I missed this post the first time around. Well, I believe that fun isn't useless. It depends on if you're focused on improving your game, or enjoying the game.

Re: Is it possible to play Go without strategy?
The level of your reading is simply the factor that defines probably around 90% of your playing strength. I made the mistake of studying high level strategy, fuseki, etc. from books at around 5k and I think it was a waste of time. The almost the only books needed until maybe kgs 3d are problem books ...

Re: Missclick undo?
During my whole go playing career I have never missclicked in any of my games. How can it be so difficult to put the mouse in the square you want to play and click it?
If everyone would pay sufficient attention to what they are doing, there would be no missclicks of any kind. KGS even has the anti ...

Re: About inspiration and flow
I do experience it, I usually find that it's a consequence of trying to use your stones to their utmost potential. Unfortunately, consistent play saps my inspiration, leading me to occasionally (read: often) eschew the "good" for the "new".
I also find that if I play too much, I tend to make ...

About inspiration and flow
I have studied years of piano playing before I started Go, and have noticed that improving in either one of them comes with similar problems.
The main problem is that in order to rapidly improve, you need a very high degree of mental effort. It actually seems that brain is like a muscle. There is ...

Re: A Thread for particularly nice tsumegos
In my problem, it is not particularly challenging to read how white would kill black. If it was white to play, more or less every move by white will kill black instantly
I was just thinking what would be the most retarded way for white to kill black. In this case white can kill black by playing C5

A Thread for particularly nice tsumegos
Since solving life and death is one of the primary ways of improving your game, I would like to have a thread of inspirational tsumegos. Those that left you with a particularly satisfied feeling when you finally managed to solve it. I will start by posting the tsumego that inspired me to start this ...
