Re: Shin Jinseo

Shin Jinseo gave an extensive interview after the Nongship Cup final victory. Among other things, interesting remarks on Ke Jie and Park Junghwan, and on how he studies recently.

Re: 2020 Samsung Cup

It's a pity that the move was not corrected, is this a contender for the most bizarre professional game record ever?

I believe this kind of situation in online games should be managed the same way as the dropping of a stone on board during in-person games. What are the rules for this kind of ...

Re: Shin Jinseo

I saw in the past days several games between Shin Jinseo and Park Junghwan on WBaduk, it turned out they are part of a seven game series, the first session with three games was just concluded as per https://cyberoro.com/news/news_view.oro?num=527165. Probably the beautiful location helped the ...

Re: Park Junghwan is The Best

Park won the last game in the special event held by CCTV against Ke Jie. Replaying quickly the game with Elf looks like Park had several times a good position in the middle game and then Ke Jie came back to take the lead until small yose. Huge blunder on move 226 marked the final reversal. It was ...

Re: The Reign of Ke Jie

I decided to do a quick check on how Ke Jie compares to Park Junghwan for the past three years (I included also Shin Jinseo who is only 16 years old and rose sharply each past year). For reference, I included Lee Chango stats during the same age interval as Ke Jie (17-19 years old) and Lee Sedol ...

Re: 11th Chunlan Cup

Good to see Park doing so well. He's one of my favorite players. I really enjoy his calm and balanced style.

Indeed, a characteristic game for Park when he is in good shape. Not sure what was Ke Jie mistake in fuseki, but thereafter Park play looked so smooth and effortless.

I am happy to see ...

Re: Zen vs Yonil Ha 6p (and you can play against it in KGS n

Zen19L hasn't lost an even game on KGS yet, and just beat daxin 9d who some people in chat were saying is Wang Xi a top-30 9p.

I just replayed this game and it doesn't feel like Wang Xi style. Also, the strength is not there (even taking into consideration the short time limits): see for example ...

Re: Pros inspired by AlphaGo

When I whizzed through the game I too was a bit surprised that 154 was needed, here is the sequence I think we are talking about in diagram form.

If you took the trouble to put it in nice diagrams, don't forget the one when White sacrifices the tail in order to live: after Black P4, White plays ...

Re: Pros inspired by AlphaGo

It took me quite some time to understand why W154 is needed in the Lee-Weon game

Can you please explain more? I read that W154 is a slack move.

It looks like with the proper move order, white must give the tail of his group: Black P5 White P6 Black T5 White S4 and Black P4 finishes the sequence ...

Re: Pros inspired by AlphaGo

Sorry but I don't agree with your assessment of the second half. It's clear to me that W136 is too small - B14 is much a larger yose move. The move is at least reverse sente of 8 points (I have not even counted the extra value at E14. B139 was a good move. If white played B14, black does not seem ...

Re: Pros inspired by AlphaGo

In today 3rd round from LG qualifications Choi Cheolhan play an exciting game, with an AlphaGo-esque fuseki. It's the first time I see him trying the irregular 3-13 combination. I felt that the second half of the game was very steady for Black, also reminiscent of AlphaGo style. In the end Black had ...
