Re: A new server is being developed: Kaya.gs
I'm sorry; I might have misunderstood something. If you're just talking about the capability to include YouTube links, then I don't understand how this is even a feature (you should be able to do that anywhere). But you're completely right; everything that I said above argues in favour of hosting ...

Re: Othello Syndrome strikes again
Go is introduced using the text on wikipedia.
How can they shame us like this :'(
That is the same Wikipedia article that left me expecting the movie Tron: Legacy to have Go as a major element, rather than including a single blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of a goban. Actual quote from the article ...

Neat looking goban in that one -- check out the star points. Cool stones, too.

Maybe you know something I don't, but I can think of a reason why this is not an easy nut to crack. Bandwidth. Video is not easy to scale.
Exactly. One 4 Mb video on a site that gets ~1000 uniques a day will chew through more bandwidth than hundreds of html pages. The benefits endusers can derive ...

Re: glad to see an english and active go mesage board...
It is intellectual snobbery. Chess players may assume themselves to be superior to people who do not play chess regularly as a result of having confused their fondness for chess with the intellectual acuity culturally presupposed to be necessary to play the game well. Go players can likewise ...

Amusingly, I'm reading a novel right now, from the 1920s, by Nabokov, about a chessmaster driven mad by his obsession with chess. The English title was either The Defence , The Defense , or The Luzhin Defence , depending on which edition you've got, with the latter being closer to the original ...

Re: Types of annoying people on go servers
I play on KBaduk's Chinese servers, although I don't speak Chinese. If my opponents have made rude comments to me, I'll never know. I've never been escaped on there, although I have encountered a few strangely early resignations. That just adds to my Win ration, though, and it's so easy to get into ...

I was going down the Chess route until one day I was watching the "Art of War" documentary from History Channel and they were talking about Chess compared to Go in militray context and after that I was hooked and I been researching, playing, reading, and even watch an anime based on the game of GO ...

Re: Poker vs. Go
I was actually thinking about poker and go the other day. Specifically, in relation to John F. Kennedy's statement regarding the Soviets: "We play poker, they play chess." Today, with the rising global dominance of the Chinese economy, we find that a much more frightening position has become ...

Not a shock to see it's been done:

I'd love to see something in English, though.

Re: Things you don't like about Go.
The only thing I dislike about go involves how certain mentalities towards the game.
(1)I strongly dislike that people care so much about their rank
(2)I dislike how this makes every game difficult to approach in a fun manner. Even if its ranked, you should be having fun competing and stop ...
