Re: Chinese, Korean, and Japanese player name issues.
I'm very new at this but I'm wondering about this issue on names. In regular chess...you can immediately tell whether the player is male or female by the designation "GM" and "WGM". However I haven't seen a method on allowing viewers to know if the player in question is male or female. It may not ...

KGS 6k vs 7k -- Interesting Tesuji
Here's a game that I played today, where I had White. I feel like I played a lot of bad moves, and by the time I got to Move 96, I felt like I had forced myself into trying to play a bad invasion. Even though I found a bit of an interesting way to live, in the end, there must have been better plays ...

Re: Honinbo/Gosei
Iyama Yuta wins against Hane Naoki in Game 3 by Resignation! He now holds the Gosei, Honinbo, Judan, and Tengen titles!

Re: Honinbo/Gosei
So, now, Iyama holds the Judan, Tengen, and Honinbo titles. If he wins against Hane Naoki on the 23rd, he'll have the Gosei as well.
I see that a few others, including Kato Masao and Cho U, have held four simultaneous Big 7 titles before. Has anyone ever held five? Iyama has a very decent shot at ...

Re: KGS on Ice Cream Sandwich
I just downloaded the updated client, the changelog for which lists "Fixes for Ice Cream Sandwich." I'll post my experiences with it, after I get to play around a bit.

KGS on Ice Cream Sandwich
Installed KGS on my new Galaxy Nexus, and it runs quite beautifully, for the most part. There are only three issues that I've noticed.
1) This is actually an issue I noticed on Android 2.3, as well. If the App loses its connection to the server, it never seems to either time-out or re-establish the ...

Ahhh, I see. You are absolutely correct. Thanks again!jts wrote:You can kill the top group, but only if you get the first move. As it happened you did get to move on top first, but played tenuki at the critical point. Saving the lower left gives black the first move on top.

Re: Defeat from the jaws of Victory from the jaws of Defeat
Thanks for all the help! This will definitely start me on the road to improvement.
@Marcus, thanks! I completely missed P19 to kill that top group. After N19, I had given up on it, figuring it as being alive, and kicking myself for having played T18 instead of N19. I probably should have just ...

Defeat from the jaws of Victory from the jaws of Defeat
The last time I posted a game for review, up here, I got a ton of great commentary and improved my KGS rating by two stones, so I figure it's definitely a great learning tool!
In this game, I felt like I was just a little bit behind in every fight, which added up to a big deficit toward the end ...

Thank you very much, Amnal and Ed! Amnal, what you said about playing too close to my opponent made a ton of sense, and has definitely improved my game, already! Ed, thanks for providing the variations-- really helps me to see my mistakes a bit better.

KGS 13k vs 11k - My first request for analysis
Hi, everybody. I spent a couple of months away from the game before getting a few games in on KGS this week. As a bit of background, I first started playing Go ten years ago, when a buddy got me hooked on Hikaru no Go. Unfortunately, we couldn't find too many people to play with, so interest ...
