Re: go defined

See also the AGA website's Handouts section, which obviously focuses on the AGA ruleset.

There are a variety of rules handouts including on a business card, on a half-page, and on a full-page.

Re: New training aid

Perhaps my mental image is a bit off, but I am picturing what is essentially a game record sheet printed on a transparency? I feel like that would be easy enough to use as long as a book has uniform diagram size.

You have it backwards:
The game record is on the whiteboard. The transparency has ...

Re: Warning, Yunzi Stones Are Dangerous To Health

Also look for the slightly more economical but very similar Korean Glass stones: Jangstone No. 1 (available from YMI, if you decide to give them another chance).

The report the OP links to seems to contain a very decent reaction by YMI.

Perhaps they should be notified again about the OP's results ...

Re: 9x9 games worth studying?

Hello. I'm looking for 9x9 games that are worth studying for a beginner, preferably freely available in .sgf format.

I've been playing 9x9 games wherever I can, and I'm starting to see my computer as a flawed opponent, so I'm looking for some skilled examples to inspire me on the 9x9 board ...

Can't wait to buy this film on Blu-ray. Amazon says it will be released Feb. 11, 2014. Or maybe I can wait until it reaches $10-$15.

Brooklyn Castle is documentary on a young chess team that really connects with young audiences. It'll be interesting to see how Life of a King compares.

Re: Mainstream Go Sightings

Warring States (now streaming on Netflix)--a movie about Sun Bin, died 316 BCE-- has two scenes that show (I think) go, at 41 minutes and at 52 minutes.

At 41m: full width shows 19 lines a "common" rough board, dark.
At 52m: only shows 16x15, not full width, "elite" golden board

Both show ...
