Re: Go Congress 2017

Shame you are not using the USS Midway Museum. The Midway had a long distinguished time in Japan (over 18years). I know I learned to play Go while stationed on her.

Re: Tygem and the AGA's prosystem

Yes, there is more... but this was just a discussion on what happened to the sponsorship. All that was mentioned in the article was that they were no longer sponsoring it. There was a one line sentence in the board meeting minutes. you think there would have been some discussion on this. Maybe it ...

Tygem and the AGA's prosystem

In today's e-journal there was a comment

The AGA will continue to look for new sponsors to replace Tygem, but will run this year’s tournament from reserves and from money earmarked for the AGA’s new professional system.

I do not remember seeing what happened to the Tygem sponsorship. Does anyone ...

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

The client protocol that is available online is what was part of NNGS (the igs clone) and is a subset of the existing client protocol. For example, it does not inclue review and the new rating system updates.

While it would be a good place to start and you could telnet in and see what review and ...

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

I am not sure this matters or not.

But i think the big difference in this conversation is in the how a client should be developed. Should it start pretty with minimal functions and then try to add additional functionality while alienating an existing core group of players? Or should you develop a ...

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

I think this comes down to the design issue. When someone designs a prodcut (which this is) the end results should be taken in. When you design one thing and then later on want to add more, you usually end up breaking what is done. And this comes down to Panda.... Do they want people to have a ...

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

I think people are missing the point.. there was a point in time where the stones used was state of the art. but over time tecnology changes, but if the app was continued to be supported, I would think that would change. If I remember right, there was a stone and board images from tweets personal ...

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

Like my earlier post said and I agree, wingic was a great client. To bad development was stopped on it. I paid for it, but no longer use it because I am on a mac. glgo is so limiting. There was a sister program to it winmgt, that was nice to replay sgf files and comment/create tree variations.

Re: GoPanda 2 browser client

I have been on IGS for a long time.. since the hellspark days. I have been very active in multiple ways over the years.

Personally, I always thought winigc was the best client going. I even paid for the licensed version of it, but the writer of the app stopped developing it.

A few of the things ...

Re: AGA losses in 2011 Congress

This is my issue. The loss at a congress should be obvious well in advance. Typically a group using a site will pay for the rooms they use. I am not sure of exact numbers that the congress uses. but i will use general numbers for this.

Say a congress has budget of 180l to pay a school, all ...

Re: EJournal's usefullness in Congress budget

Paying for people to attend a congress and part of the job is to replay games on KGS? sorry, this is a little bit over kill. I have attended congress in the past and allowed my online account to be used to replay a NAMT and actually ran moves between the room where everyone could see the pro game ...

Re: AGA losses in 2011 Congress

Just to me this whole thing does not sound right...

One of the reason for congress not breaking even or turning a modest profit as because of no shows. Usually when you register for a conference there is a drop dead date when you have to pay or else you will be deregistered. If this typical ...
