Re: Hikaru no Go...?
I have the DVDs and have watched them all with and without subtitles, in Japanese and in English -- I disagree.
the official subbed videos are much better than the fan subbed ones, but they still are not complete dialog (subtitles are never intended to be)
Maybe, but you can't really say that ...

Re: Hikaru no Go...?
Hi,
I prefer the dubbed versions, because I don't understand Japanese. I'd much rather hear it in my own language. And the dialog is much richer than what the subtitles can provide which are often abbreviated, shorted, or even skipped portions. Not to mention that having to read the subtitles ...

Re: Hikaru no Go...?
A brilliant tribute.
I originally watched the whole series with dubbing because that seemed easiest. But there is a version on you tube now with the original voices and very, very good subtitles. The Japanese is great to follow. It`s done by (no surprise) a devotee calling himself hikaru shindou ...

Re: The Four Arts
banjo is clearly a neologism derived from 'goban' and 'joseki.'
It's a good job he didn't pick 'fuseki' and 'ko' for the job.

KGS connection issue?
Greetings,
I wonder if any one could kindly advise me what to do here?
I have had a long standing KGS account. However, now when I click on play on KGS nothing happens.
Is it possible I have been banned for drinking the sugar free version of red bull during play?
Cheers,
Buri

Greetings,
What is sabbath?[/quote]
It`s an excellent band. Unfortunately we had to omit the other half of its name to forestall any accusations of racism.
Always glad to help,
Buri

Greetings,
if you study at the Guo Juan Internet school, the lectures, group lessons, private lessons or whatever talk about shape all the time.
Best wishes,
Buri

Re: Guo Juan's lectures and study plan
Greetings,
glad you are happy. I think it is important to follow through these courses to the end no matter how long they take, but at the same time you can have a lot of fun dipping into lectures that look interesting. For example the Kobayashi ones are very helpful. I would add a word of caution ...

Greetings,
the step by s tep course is great so I suggest you do it.
Do the opening training without fail. That benefitted my game to an extent I can hardly put into words. It's fun too. Apparently the course is the real deal used in some Chinese Go schools of good repute.
As far as the middle game ...

Greetings,
I think this is a very fair review and also agree with the point abo

I think a certain kind of hard working mentality can work doggedly through the book and that such an approach pays huge dividends. My own approach I cam up with through trial and error is ...
