We meet in New Haven twice a week at Koffee on Audubon. 7:30 pm on Thursday and 1:30 pm on Sunday.

Thanks so much for your help guys. It seems that some of the common threads here are that I don't value corners enough and I play a little over-ambitiously. If I'm correct, only one of my moves that you reviewed, Joaz, was slow.

Hey gang. I just played this game and I thought I did quite well until I lost (granted, by only 6.5 points I think). Still, I felt good all the way. Where did I go wrong? I'm white.

I'm an American in Baku, Azerbaijan for the summer and I was wondering if anyone has any leads on Go players in Baku. My Google-fu is not sophisticated enough.

Can someone help me with where I went wrong? Yes. Things like :b27: (as m42 noted), and :b29:, :b31:, :b33: -- what were you doing with this group? You just gave W a ton of points for nothing! :)

:b23: @ s7 is better. It is a better move to remove aji.
:b27: is no good, I think the result shows that. If you want to atari that stone, play o6 then tenuki.
:b43: is better at b18 to keep the pressure on white's group.
:b73: is certainly overplay. You should probably just defend yourself at m17 ...

I thought this was a closer game than it was... I was beat by 50 points! Can someone help me with where I went wrong? Meanwhile I'm off to continue studying life and death...

Well, in this game, you have a lot of time and you don't use it. You play the crucial moves 128-136 in less than thirty seconds in a game where you still have 17 + 5x:30 on the clock. So take your time. I doubt you'd have trouble seeing that the white group is in jeopardy if you played carefully ...
