Re: Oversights and vague reading
It's not just me, is it? Today I played a game and from the middle until the end I 'saw' an opponent's large group as dead when it wasn't. This was a clear case of two liberties on a group of mine he needed to capture in order for his to live. I 'saw' my dead group as part of my putative killing ...

Re: DGS got an upgrade
The upgrade is nice. It is unfortunate, anyway, that new ruleset (I'm thinking about AGA) were implemented.
I guess superko is difficult for DGS?
Anyway, nice work

Rating Histogram
Hi, I noticed that on Sensei's Library there's a nice rating histogram about kgs, but that it's two years out of date.
Is there any tools or place where to find (and study) such data?

Re: The Start Of A New Journey (Plan To Become Pro)
This happened to me some time ago, before I started considering ranking just a useful way to find more-or-less equal games and started playing not for fun nor for rank but just to play at my best.
The solution? Take a break. At least of a week. Focus on something else. Then come back and start ...

Re: Playing online versus playing in real life
I like both, really.
In person, it's more social and less stressful. Probably because almost everyone in my group is a raw newbie being coached, and only one other player is stronger than I am. Even when I get beaten, it's all fun, if somewhat slow. If I play really badly, we just laugh it off ...

Re: Playing online versus playing in real life
I think I'm the black sheep here. While I enjoy much playing online and I do my best there, I absolutely don't like playing live in tournaments or against people in general.
My last tournament, in fact, is marked 2008, my last live game is of 2010.

I'm guessing that black gains ~1 point per move while white thickness towards the centre is much more valuable.

Re: +forf ...?
When one has escaped too many games, whenever he leaves a gameroom again the game gets forfeited for him, just as he resigned.

Re: +forf ...?
I think your opponent is a chronic escaper (http://www.gokgs.com/help/faq/escapers. ... cale=en_US), so leaving the game before its end counts as an automatic loss for him.
If all of that is true the game will be counted for you. Congrats, you were so much strong that you scared the opponent and won!

Re: What would you classify Go as
I think that is a game. I live it as a game and enjoy it as a game. A strategy game for sure, but nevertheless a game!
