About the pattern recognition thing: the same thing goes for your own games. If you recognize the bad moves you will improve too. Perhaps it would be beneficial to memorize your own games. On my iPhone I am happy with EasyGo. It can import problem collections as zip files and it is easy to edit your own problems. euro 10.99 though for the full version.
