Re: Go servers where I can play with chinese rules?
OGS supports Chinese rules. It's all web based, so works without any problems on Linux.

Re: Go clubs in Norway
I don't think that club list is very up to date.
The only clubs in the southern part of Norway would be in Oslo, Bergen and Grimstad. Unsure if the Grimstad club is meeting during the summer though.
Asking in the KGS room is probably the safest option, that should give you up to date information ...

Re: Carissa, US chess master
Since Caissa + r -> Carissa , I wonder if she was named in honor of chess. Is her father a chess nut?
Wouldn't that be Cheressa?
I have a feeling he is referring to Caïssa , the goddess of chess. And with her turning out to be a great chess player I'm sure he'll at least claim the goddess was ...

Depends on the board, but seems simpler to just do this as black:

Re: Mateusz Surma & Ilya Shikshin's plays in the 2nd Europe
Interesting hearing the commentator there say that the biggest weakness of European pros is the fundamental knowledge/memorization of "basic" situations. Was at a tournament in Luxembourg last autumn where Laurent Heiser mentioned the exact same thing in one of his lectures.

Uberdude has posted the SGF as well with a few of his own comments in another thread. Very interesting to read his view on the game.

Re:
I remember once trying to play blind go on a bus where we didn't have a board available. We played a 9x9 game and just gave numerical coordinates from the bottom-left corner. We managed to finish the first game, since we played nicely and just divided the board in two. The second game became chaos ...

Re: Gu Li and Lee Sedol's recent form
According to the Korean Baduk site the current top 3 there are:
1. Park Junghwan
2. Kim Ji Suk
3. Lee Sedol
From what I can see Lee Sedol was ranked as nr 1 in November, but fell down to 3. place in the December rankings.

Re: very quick resignation
I think it went wrong on move 18, up to that point you had played it out correctly. Instead of connecting at D6 I would have connected at D11. That would give the wall nice shape and influence towards both the centre and the top.
Connecting the C6 stone isn't that important since the black stones ...
