I have a friend who uses this, the stones feel good and it's bigger than the link before, with no line through the middle unlike the other one. The stones are already have the magnets in them and it's good for anything from traveling, to putting it on your refrigerator.

Re: New play.

I agree with topazg. The best solution is to find someone just a bit better than you who could be a worthy rival. Play many games with them and you'll see that you both improve. Make sure to play other players as well otherwise you could get into a bad habit if your rival keeps on falling for ...

Re: Looking for the strong.

It might be worth your while to try a 13x13 game and see how you do. Here, when black doesn't take advantage of white's cutting points after Move 12, the game is basically over.

Regarding starting on the 5-5 point, that point is a valid place to start in a corner on a 19x19 board, even if it is ...

Re: Looking for the strong.

Okay. The best way I know to find your rank is go to goshrine. We have 4 dans and many high level kyus. The rest vary. Also look on kgs for someone named dullah. Currently he's 2d but he has so many accounts that I can't keep track. If you don't know your rank, challenge someone to a 13x13 or 19x19 ...

Re: reflections from a chess grandmaster

I think that is good advice, but it is not helpful if the grandmaster does not know the differences in learning. In chess, you're basically a computer that calculates everything but doesn't need to know why, you only need to know what to play. To understand the beginning, middle, and endgame in ...

Re: Go World Magazine - How to Subscribe?

There's a couple ways. You could go to the bottom of the kiseido store under english go books but it's only 4 issues a year. Another choice is to get all the ones prior to the ones being issued currently. https://www.createspace.com/226671.

Re: Anybody using RubyGo?

I installed Ruby and downloaded RubyGo the other day. It's very nice. I like the implementation of the mouse cursor and the stone visually just behind the cursor. A built in ghost stone cursor making it easier to locate where to put the stone on the board. Anyway, I'm posting this to ask if there's ...

Jzool: how do you know what size the board is

I found that on Jzool it doesn't say the size of the squares (which are equivalent to the size of the stones) so I'm not sure that the stones that I have which are 9.2mm tall and 21mm wide (about 3/8'' x 3/4'') will work for the board I want to get (because I want to get a goban floor board. Does ...

Re: Yunzi biconvex stones -- powder inside?

I ordered the 9.2 mm binconvex yunzi stones from Yellow Mountains. One of the stones was cracked almost perfectly along the midline. When I looked at the two halves, it looked like there was a hole in the center of the stone filled with some powder.

I was wondering if anyone knows that the powder ...

Re: The Insei League – new concept and rule changes (March,

The major difference between the KGS and Korean insei league used to be the age of players – we worked generally with adults and the Korean schools focus on children under 18. This result primarily occurred due to a large fee and the absence of discounts for children.
Nowadays, when the American ...

Re: Stuck at 11k KGS

since march 2011 I`ve studied the kiseido`s opening, L&D and the tesuji book.
right now I study kiseido`s attack n defense.

but since 2 months (since I began to study the L&D book) I`m stuck at 11k KGS and don`t get any stronger. tesuji helped me to get stronger, the L&D book didn`t. of ...
