The video suggests that the tight time limit made it more difficult that it would otherwise be.
I wish they would state the playing strength of the opponents in exhibitions like this. It makes a big difference to the perception of the achievement.

Re: Sharing diagrams
1) Take an sgf file and turn it into a nice diagram image, with numbered moves etc.
Drago will also do this. It has lots of options.
2) Take an sgf file and make it into a gif.

Re: making eyes
Browse through some much more difficult problems. These show you positions that are several moves before the beginner problem positions are reached (so they are more realistic), and which are on the life/death border. You probably won’t be able to solve the problems, but just reviewing them will ...

Re: Grammatical question about Go and territory: much or man
The goal of Go is to get as much territory or as many points as possible.

Re: From Chess to Go: How?
In chess there is a book called "My System" by Nimzowitsch, it's the #1 chess classic. It deals with important strategic ideas, and is a must have for any level of player. People often come back to it to refresh their knowledge. Is there not a book like this for Go? I have the feeling that many Go ...

Re: Bots that undo
Lucas Chess has over 100 engines you can play against, with a steady progression in strength from almost-random to something stronger than Magnus Carlsen.

Re: Bots that undo
All engines will "suggest" a move, but all they are doing is what they normally do: calculate a strong move. There is no explanation of the position, or why it is a good move.

... Bots can teach. ....
I fully disagree with this. Even in 9x9 learning from bots is close to impossible. In 19x19 bots play like, well, bots.
Bots are a tool for improvement, rather than a teacher. They cannot explain ideas to you, but if you played 100 games against a strong bot, I suspect ...

Re: Bots that undo
An undo facility is a function of the interface program, not the engine. An engine is just a computer program that calculates the best move for a given position. For a free interface that lets you undo moves when playing against an engine, try Drago.

Organising Go positions
I am looking for a way to save and manage individual Go positions on my PC, and to make comments on them and cycle through them. Ideally, it would be a little like an SGF file, except whenever you click the Next node it does not add a stone to the game, but rather switches to a completely different ...

Batch-editing game details on SGF files
I have dozens of my games saved on my computer, all as individual SGF files. To make this growing collection easier to manage, I want to use a database. I use Drago for most reviewing and editing, and that has a database option, so that was my first place to look.
The problem is that the ...

Development direction of a 3-4 corner
I have some basic understanding of opening principles; that is, to sketch out areas in which you have the most potential, which generally means extending along the sides where you have a corner stone on line 4 rather than line 3.
I am unsure about the best way to extend away from a 3-4 corner in a ...

Re: How to approach a tsumego
Quite right. The perils of being a very casual player. Well, I hope the tsumego I am tackling have got a bit more difficult since those days.
The really interesting new bit was the concept of a half-eye, and how you can add them together to get 2 eyes.

Re: How to approach a tsumego
Thank you, Bill. I have read about a few different approaches to life and death, but never anything like that.
