Re: DIY projects
Interesting, I guess I am not the only spelunker and go player
. I managed to attach my torch to the helmet without removing the inner lining on a Dechatlon helmet, it worked well.

Re: Knotwilg's practice
Thanks for composing the problems, I am enjoying them
.
Some mistakes could be also labelled as "shape", for example, problem 21. There I would play the correct move immediately because it is important from the local shape point of view.

@Kirby What does Kata think about 52? It is an interesting move that I don't know how to evaluate, but I probably wouldn't play it...

Re: Middle game suji: out of three point jump with kosumi
Thanks for the comments.
I agree that the conditions depend a lot on the surroundings.
I also searched on waltheri, but there are (too)many sequences to choose from. That is why I asked if there are some standard sequences.
Maybe I can try to first focus on two more specific situations:

Middle game suji: out of three point jump with kosumi
Hi, do you know of any standard sequences after the bottom diagram? (Or a reference?)

This is a very detailed plan, and much more ambitions than I have ever done.
Do not stress if you do less, and watch out for burnout. Learning go is not a sprint.
My suggestion is to add quick games and 9x9 games (x serious games on a kind of serious account, x or more fast games and 2x or more ...

Re: 4d Tygem game
Thanks again for the replies, they were really helpful. I composed sgf as a reference.
I also tried to evaluate the position at move 82, but I realised I don't really know how to evaluate influence well enough for it to be helpful. Knotwilg, how differently would you count secured(as Antti suggests ...

Re: 4d Tygem game
Thanks for the additional replays.
Seeing it like that, it seems quite obvious that the marked exchanged are bad.
But I still don't really get it how 83-89 is that bad for me, apart from seeing that Q14 (and that part of the board) is more urgent.

Re: 4d Tygem game
Thanks, these are all excellent points.
For 87, the idea was to reduce the centre or side. I expected K15 and I reduce the centre and get some points, while w gets M16 area. What would you play instead?

4d Tygem game
Hi
It is a bit quiet in this subforum, I guess everybody is just asking AI.
In case you wish to go over my game, I would be interested in the moves which you see as mistakes and why.
Thanks

Re: Help me review: tournament game
You entered byoyomi at move 109, 10 minutes for 25 moves. How much time did you use before byoyomi?
75 min
I don't know how bad was this, but since I play sometimes on IGS, I thought that playing in byoyomi shouldn't be a problem.
But it was, I zoned out a few times thinking about a move, and ...

Re: Help me review: tournament game
Thank you very much, each of your points is a good lesson for me. Interestingly, I was not too happy with the problematic moves (I saw a bit of a problem with efficiency). But they were not obviously bad either. But a tenuki to a corner with only one stone will be rarely a worse play in these ...

Help me review: tournament game
Hi,
I am asking for help with the review of my game. I am especially interested in the moves, that you realize are bad and how do you realize they are bad. I added my review, so you can maybe guess my blindspots.
Thank you :)

Resources for middle game Ko
I am strugling with middle game kos, especially against stronger opponents.
Do you have some resources to suggest (youtube, books, forum posts)? Or any advice how to improve this aspect of my game?
I am interest in both general principles and tactical situations.
Thanks

Re: ELO width of Tygem ranks
Thank you gennan for useful information.
I know Tygem does not use Elo, but effectively one could try to use Elo to describe the system.
For instance, compute the average winrate in even games between random players from ranks G and G+1, which then translate to "Elo width" of rank G.
This probably ...
