Re: LG Cup 29 final fiasco

The video: https://www.youtube.com/live/AlrwjeHzDBs?t=6359s

White put black stones in the lid, a few stones slid out, he put them back immediately into the lid.

Thanks for the video link! The White player (Mok Jinseok?) did the best he could in that situation. The key issue is that the lid is ...

Re: LG Cup 29 final fiasco

@deungsan

I respect your right to participate in this discussion. However, some of your arguments are so flawed that they hardly merit further debate. You claim that certain way of doing things are considered Go etiquette and that Ke Jie's deviation from it is in breach of that etiquette. It seems ...

Re: LG Cup 29 final fiasco

So far, we’ve only been addressing part of the issue. From my understanding, in the final game, Ke Jie wasn’t upset about the penalty rule itself but rather about the timing of the referee’s intervention. Someone has already mentioned that he corrected the error on his own.

There was no doubt that ...

Re: LG Cup 29 final fiasco

No single party (in this case the KBA) should have unchecked power to alter rules, especially when such changes fundamentally impact other parties. By that, I mean professionals using Chinese rules have developed a decades-long habit of not worrying about captured stones. This rule change ...

Re: 2021 Samsung Cup

There was wide disruption of Internet services in Korea so that two quarter-final games had to be abandoned. :o Did you hear any resolution on this?

By the way, has anyone heard of young Chinese professionals abandoning their games after they run out of their 1-hour daily (3 hours weekly) video ...

private Go lessons

At the age of artificial intelligence, it is unclear that how many Go players are still willing to take private Go lessons. Certainly, lack of explainability and interaction is a major problem for learning with AI. As an experienced Go teacher and Go programmer, I am having some spare capacity to ...

The longest professional game

Happened earlier this week. 431 moves including 6 dame moves, beating the previous record by a big margin. The players could have made it 6 moves longer as both sides had one more ko threat (B13 and E18) left unused.

Re: Ridiculous OGS Moderator

It is good you find a workaround to continue to play there. OGS is a nice place and I have good memory playing there few years ago. Well Go is just a game. Much worse things happen in real life, like the arbitrary ban some rowdy president imposed on Huawei, putting tens of thousands of people's ...
