Re: Fox Go Server

I've been using Fox to observe games (rather than playing) for some time now, and yesterday I had a login error. "Account or password incorrect".

I have read comments here about locked acounts and so on, and I was wondering if it was my case. I was hoping it was a general issue. Anyway, is it ...

Re: Go Basic Training Series- Chinese problem book set revie

Been a long time since I visited this site, or played any go...

My quick search didn't show these books as available. But the much bigger set by the same author, I think it has 20 books, is still available. It covers the same topics plus opening, joseki and endgame. All of those are difficult to ...

Re: Path to 9Dan, step by step.

Just wanted to say hi, and share that I've found it inspiring to read through your journal.

Back when you first started I had posted and wished you well. I was making a pretty big effort to improve myself at that time. I hit 2D on fox and suddenly lost the passion and just stopped.

I guess it's ...

Re: Rewaxing an inconsistently waxed board

Thank you both for your replies.
I think the stones will be fine, it feels as though there is maybe a little excess on them or the wax has gone a little tacky over time but a good rub with a cloth seems to sort them out. I don't think anything more is needed and likely if they ever were in need of a ...

Rewaxing an inconsistently waxed board

https://imgur.com/gallery/Rbj9Fzx

I recently purchased a new set, that had been sitting for a long time before I bought it.
The wax remaining on the board is inconsistent. It some places it is shiny and a bit "grippy" when I rub it with my finger. Rubbing with a soft dry cloth helped a little ...

Re: Top 3 Go books in your opinion?

A tough question, different books have been favourites at different times e.g. I read a lot of beginners books and have my favourite amongst them that I would recommend to others, but they don't really belong as a lasting favourite.
Similarly I think my favourites now will also change.

Generally ...

Re: Ridiculous OGS Moderator

Zac, is airbagging a bannable offense in any other go server?

I don't know, I didn't know sandbagging was a bannable offence on OGS. I would have assumed that if sandbagging was bannable then so would airbagging. I would think any deliberate manipulation of the ranking system could be seen as ...

So would you have been happier if he had banned you for inflating your rank instead?

Re: Ridiculous OGS Moderator

I want to get this right;

You were accused of deflating your rank, and banned
But what really happened was you had inflated your rank, giving the impression later that your rank was deflated?

I think I might need some party balloons to better visualise.

I'd suggest using an anagram of the mod ...

Re: Go Basic Training Series- Chinese problem book set revie

Thanks for the update dfan.

I took a bit of a break from go for a couple of months and I've starting back by getting back in to these books. I finished all the 5 and 1k ones last time around, and like you I'm still quite impressed and would recommend them. I have somewhere around 100 go books now ...

Re: WTB Speed Baduk for Beginners, Vol 1, 2, 3 & Answer Book

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I also don't know where I can find the answer book.
What is the name of the Chinese version and where could I find it?

I don't believe that the Chinese volumes 1,2,3 have answers included, my vol 10,11,12 didn't but came with a CD that had videos of the ...

If you already have the answer book, then maybe the Chinese version of volume 1 would be OK? The content is exactly the same.

Re: WBaduk client problem

I have this problem too, and like betterlife says, just reconnecting to the server solves the problem.

I have to ask, why do you particularly want to play on WBaduk? I occasionally watch pro games on there, but otherwise I don't find it such a great experience. Definitely seems to have many less ...

Re: Go Basic Training Series- Chinese problem book set revie

Did you also buy the speed baduk books? If so, how are they?
I've only looked briefly, but they look good. Unfortunately, the Intermediate series does not have answers! This is especially unfortunate given that not all of the problems are life-and-death type problems with clear solutions. If they ...
