Re: Aji's Quest

This is totally awesome! Once it is all done, be great to have it on Tiger's Mouth. We might want to print a bunch for handing out at events too. Thanks for all the great work you are doing with Aji!

Re: Did Apple kill cgoban for me?

I am on 10.6.8 too. I was avoiding the security update as I wasn't sure how it would affect KGS. Then KGS actually stopped working when I tried to launch it! I think Bill must have updated the program due to this situation. So I installed the security update, and then downloaded a new version of ...

Does Apple security update disable KGS?

Apple just released a security update which is supposed to disable Java. Does anyone know if this only affects the web applets, or if it affects the Java client. If the latter, installing it would disable KGS (a risk I am not willing to take). The web applet is not a big deal (it doesn't run now ...

Re: Ing backs out of USYGC

It definitely means the USYGC will not select the representative to the World Youth. My understanding is that the Ing Foundation will hold their own qualifier for the event, in the Bay Area. Kids who don't happen to live there will likely be out of luck, unless the Foundation decides to hold live ...

Re: Android DGS Client and sgf editor

Awesome update! The new graphics look fantastic, really well done! Many players don't care about how things look, but I am not one of them. I started playing this game because it was so compelling visually. I hate playing on cruddy sets, with stones that no one has ever washed, lol. This is a ...

Re: Communications

Whoever pointed out the real issue is PEOPLE was totally correct!!! I read and respond to 4 or 5 different e-mail addresses for the AGA and AGF, and I delegate e-mails to another 7 or 8 addresses for people to respond to. Protocols, systems, software, all are totally meaningless. The only criteria ...

Re: Computer Go and Komi?

See, komi always bugs me. I am quite sure that a professional player can get 7.5 points out of playing first (in AGA rules), I am equally sure that my odds of doing so are minimal at best! Komi is set by comparing the win/loss ratios of professional players, based solely on what color they are ...

Re: Baduk Jungsuk for Android

Wegoigo runs Kogo's. I think Go Grinder does too, but I couldn't get it to load when I tried. When I have internet access, I often just use josekipedia.com.

Strange that 2.3 won't run that Korean app.

Re: Baduk Jungsuk for Android

I was able to install it on mine, but the interface was really poor. Most of the things I clicked on simply didn't work. When I did finally load a jungsuk (joseki) sequence, I had to individually select each move, then confirm it, and then select from a separate menu of possible responses. The ...

Android mini tablet for sale $75

I just upgraded to the new Samsung Player, and am looking to sell my Archos 43. It runs Android 2.2, has a 4.3 inch screen, and is about a year old. It is in perfect shape, and is great for recording your games. It needs a wifi connection for the internet, but you don't need that to run any of the ...

Re: Go Credit Card

I think the rates are the same as regular Capital One cards, so check their website. You can also just click on the link in that article. The rates are mentioned somewhere in there, and certainly before you complete the enrollment process. I have the card, but I can't remember what the rate is (I ...

Re: Amazon Fire and KGS

I haven't tried this yet, but my understanding is you can enable third party apps on the Fire without rooting it. From there, you just need the APK file, and you can install an app via USB. Details are here: m Several of the people who make Go apps are on this forum, so they can get you an apk file ...

Re: Boom!

Actually, even pros in other countries need to supplement their income by teaching. If there is a large enough pool of people wanting to learn, then that is quite feasible here as well. When the KBA began licensing pros, it was little more than a piece of paper, and there was no way to make a living ...
