it's not possible to store all the books that were ever written, because the Library of Alexandria was burned, forget who burned it - perhaps you can remind me?

I think I already said that in post #4.

Re: IGF Go Population Report 2016

I find it hard to believe that only 50,000,000 people in China are aware of go. Even if they don't know how to play it one out of every 30 or so people seems low.

Re: Will AI ever beat humans at Go with energy parity?

The original poster seems to think that power consumption should be comparable for an equal match. I immediately thought of it a different way and read the entire thread look for a mention of it. No one else did, so here it is. What do you think?

Stu Horowitz and I once has a set of 5 correspondences games going, back in the early 90s, which went on for around 5 years and we never did finish them. I still have them somewhere

I am surprised that with all the resources they have and as long as English has been used in go that that page sounds so stilled. Don't they have fluent speakers to write these things?

Re: One point win and triple ko in the same game!

I thought that Japanese rules did not recognize superko and that it would be a NR if neither side conceded it. Anyway, DGS certainly does not implement superko. I was counting very carefully at the end to make sure I would win if I gave up the ko.

The Japanese rules do not have a superko rule ...

One point win and triple ko in the same game!

This is not a good game as it is full of errors. But I thought you may find it interesting because it contains a triple ko which was not resolved until the last move of the game, which resulted in a one point win.

Re: Do you want to become stronger? Why?

Dhu163, I find that very interesting because it is almost opposite to my experience. I started to play during my first year as a PhD student in mathematics. The appeal for me was that it was so different from my mathematical studies. Sure it required a logical mind, but it was the beauty and ...

Re: Do you want to become stronger? Why?

I think you have to have passion about it to improve. You also have to have a certain dedication. Just wanting to get better is not enough beyond a certain point.
