Did you contact archive.org? They may be able to send you their dump.

Also, you could try to have an "advertisment" on, say, KGS, asking for user snapshots. There's a fair chance WMS would be willing to cooperate (broadcast?).

The visibility may surely be improved, but what I am concerned about is the information it has - which is scarce. I would at least like to know if my chat is logged for an hour, a month, or forever.

Obviously, there is no point in storing data longer than necessary. I doubt a user would complain ...

For how many hours/days is chat a) logged and b) visible to (senior) admins?
