I was reading this thread and that was kind of misleading for someone like me who just wanted to catch up on the news. After all, it is not over yet, but China is leading.SaiLens wrote:Surprise, China wins. ~

Re: Shape UP! Conversion to gobook format
I don't want to rain on your parade here but even though "Shape Up" is known to be a free book, it is not actually free for distribution and is copyrighted. I had to register a gobase account to read the book some years ago, so I remember.

Kiseido Summer Sale is up
Apparently Kiseido's having a summer sale that's going to last for about 2 months. This time they are giving a 10% discount and free shipping if you get 5 books.
Guess I need to decide which 5 books to get, though I might pass since I haven't even started some I bought from the Christmas sale.

Would you like to share the way you did them? I am thinking of making some boards myself, would be interesting to read the methods you used.

Re: Any professionals which are "agressive & territorial" ?!
I would vote Chen Yaoye, especially his games against Korean fighter players like Choi Cheolhan. In fact he has a very high win ratio against Choi.
Here is a favorite of mine:

I like this willow way, for overall progression strategy in things.

Let me tell you first how I met Go first, so you can take me a bit more seriously.
I met go some years back, because I saw this program igowin on my sister's computer and ran it to see what it was.

Re: Which ranking does always beat beginners?
Since you have defined the expected win percentage, which is 0.001, I can answer the problem from, say my side, using ELO rating system and EGF ranks.
I am pretty sure I haven't played 200 19x19 games yet, but I might be close or over if you count the smaller board games. My rating is 5-6kyu ish ...

I had the problems today between 10AM - 11AM GMT. I tried from Turkey and Germany, same result.

Re: Ten Thousand Hours
The so-called 10000 hour rule comes from Malcolm Gladwell's book Outliers , which is actually about people who are phenomenally good at something, not just expert. And it must be said that this ten thousand hour rule is merely a guideline, ball-park figure, rather like a go proverb, and so should ...

Looks like Tygem Android client is here
As of today, I am seeing a Tygem Android client in Google Play.
It is completely in Korean, no English yet.
The app name is "No.1 Tygem".
Just a heads up.
