Thanks for the encouragement SoDesuNe!
Though I'm going to abandon this journal for now I think, especially as I'm now sliding from 3 kyu to 4 kyu.

Re: PeterN's Study Journal
Goal: +++FAILED+++
No real surprise that the goal of reaching 1D failed, especially given my quote at the time of making it. I had hoped to improve by more than one stone though, oh well.
Still, just because I failed doesn't mean it's time to stop, just means it'll take "a bit" longer.

Work has been hectic this week to say the least, and been too mentally drained to play let alone do any study. Not good after last week's tsumego laziness.

Hi mitsun, thanks for the comments, they are appreciated
Although this game was played fairly late in the evening for me, it wasn't enough for tiredness to come into play, and I wwasn't playing on cruise control either (I ended up in byo-yomi!). Slow and safe play is my problem at the moment I ...

Hmm... never considered that before, thanks!

Re: PeterN's Study Journal
Regarding the game, the 3-3 point is inefficient to build from. You should ignore it for a while, because it's not a threat as a result, it's just points. I think black's goal was to goad you into an overplay and then use the side stone to fight. If you must approach, the large knight's move ...

Re: PeterN's Study Journal
Yeah, this is not an easy tsumego to read out, certainly beyond my level, though I'm hoping to just flat out memorise the right answer. Bent fours are a bane of my reading.
W should live if you 1 where you do, 4 should be at C19 in diagram 1, and then A19 if you capture. I can say this with ...

I've kept on studying from the books mentioned in my last post. I try to incorporate the principles into my own games, and even if I do it incorrectly or too naively, it feels like I have become better at formulating plans at least. I am attaching a game for the first time;

Re: What is your undo policy?
I clicked the option for Accept any undo request before the next move is made, although there is a little more leeway than that, if I respond to their move very quickly then I'll still accept the undo request if it comes in what I consider to be a reasonable time. I've done similar things in face to ...
