Just IMO , with area scoring, if we end the game with all dame filled and then fill in the entire territory on the board with stones (Yes removing eyes but the game is over right ), then whoever has the most stones on the board wins. (Ignoring komi)
I just find that description more satisfying and ...

Re: Go-terms influenced by nature
I think Disney would sue go players for using their copyrighted imagery in go games.

Re: Is it possible to get worse in go??!?
I got back to within a stone (plus or mins
) on OGS within about 4-5 ranked games. That's happened to me everytime I've quit and come back. It might just be me.

Re: Random Ramblings
I thought go's purpose was to put as many stones on the board as you can and whoever has more, wins.
So in Chinese rules at the end we can just fill in our territory and whoever has to get one of their groups down to one eye loses.

Re: Losing my grip on go
Losing against a 3k when I should not have because I rushed myself and didn't read. Winning against another. Trying to LEARN what I did wrong.
Playing a game at 3 kyu level is... something wrong ??
Maybe the anxiety comes from the idea that one has to make progress, has to correct mistakes ...

Re: Losing my grip on go
Or you might want to make rated games a "rare" event, and the rest of the time play unrated games (online or on a real-life board) and study go.
This is how it was a while ago, but I felt like it wasa duct-tape solution that didn't adress the actual problems I was having with playing the game ...

Re: Losing my grip on go
50 moves into the game and I can feel my heart beating through my entire chest. I don't know why I'm so anxious like that. There wasn't even a tense capturing race fight or anything. It was just a normal board.
Do unrated games have the same effect on you?
Definitely not. That's why I used to ...

Re: Losing my grip on go
I wanted to address a point Abssyinica raised. It's understandable to feel nervous, especially if playing go is something you want to do well. The School of Life did a good video on Youtube about mastery a few years back. The main point is that we tend only to see very skilful practitioners as ...

Re: Losing my grip on go
I found out a long time ago that I don't really have the proper personality to play this game. I suspect that I also don't have the proper personality for go, but I've stuck on despite that. There seem to be certain qualities that make someone a good go player. Patience, a thick skin, a penchant ...

Re: Losing my grip on go
Brandon and Triton said on their stream that its apparently not uncommon for SDKs to get frustrated or even hateful of go.
