Re: Games as audio?

That's my gut feeling too. Even the coordinates are a bit of a stumbling block for me.. If you ask me where is H12? It takes longer that it ought to place that stone in my head. Maybe I'll try using audio to play some games out on a board first. That seems like it would be easy enough, and a logical ...

Games as audio?

Has anyone here tried listening to a game of go? Have the coordinates read out and try to keep track of the game in your head. I thought this might be fun to try. Maybe a good exercise to help your visualization?

I doubt I could get very far into a game before completely falling apart.

I'm ...

Re: Why buy slate and shell?

It's イボタロウ a wax powder. I'd imagine you give the stones a little bit of a buffing after applying it. I'm not sure though.

You can buy a set for stones here. But it looks like you would need to use one of those redirect services like Tenso as they don't ship international.

I'm interested to know ...

Ben's Baduk Beginnings! Slowest start every?!

Hello everyone. My name is Ben and I've been lurking on these forums for a bit now.
Go is a game that I should have fell in love with a long time ago, but never did. Now though, it looks like it has finally stuck.

Here is my history with Go:

Age 7: My first sighting of Go was in a game and toy ...

Re: Why buy slate and shell?

I once went in on a share of a cow, which we got to meet before being sent to the slaughterhouse. It was a little sad. Also delicious.

Clams though, even if the meat wasn't the primary product, I don't think I could muster up much empathy for them.

Re: Hiding your clock from your opponent

A mode where both players time is hidden could be fun. Am I in byo-yomi? Is my opponent? Nobody knows!

Re: Anyone know what book this is?

Thanks for the info

I've had Go on the brain recently. Played a bunch of games over the weekend, and even stayed up to watch game 1 of the Gu Li vs Lee Sedol Jubango. Watching them spend 15 minutes on a move made me slow right down in my games too. As a result I won most of the games I played that ...

Re: Anyone know what book this is?

I also notice in your photo a Honinbo game collection which is a wonderful book.
That's the thick green one right? It's got some cool photo's in it.
Honestly I don't know what to do with all these books...There's only a few beginner friendly ones in the lot. I guess I can be optimistic about it ...

That's a neat coincident, I'll have to grab a copy. I've been puzzling over this book for the last few days.

Anyone know what book this is?

Hey folks. I'm new here, and new to Go in general.
I Picked up someone's unloved collection of Go books last weekend and there were a few Japanese and Chinese books mixed in.. One quite a bit older then the rest. Looks like something to do with handicap games?
Any idea's what it is?
