Re: Shape UP! Conversion to gobook format

That editor looks great! I've been doing it all from vim and found it a bit tedious to set up the stones by coordinates. I should see if this works better for me. Thanks for the video!

Re: Shape UP! Conversion to gobook format

The format already supports images.

Image attributes
• url: The image to insert. This can be an http link to an external image, or just the file name of an image that’s included with the .gobk package. Default: The cover image of the book.
• scale: (floating-point number) Normally, the image will ...

Re: psychological profile of a sandbagger

I've been told that I'm sandbagging, as I very easily win against some equally ranked players, but then I lose devastatingly to other players at the same rank. If I am sandbagging, are they sandbagging to a greater extent?

If my win rate is about fifty fifty that is normal, I would expect.

Is ...

Re: Speed baduk and/or Level up series

They are both excellent introductions to the game. Presented in workbook format. The speed baduk goes a fair bit faster through material than level up, so may be more difficult to follow without assistance. Also, speed baduk is a bit difficult to acquire as it is out of print. The level up series ...

Very timely, a write up of a small tourney today between the top three players of ayd and eyd. It seems all of them started in their twenties or later. https://americanyungusengreports.wordpr ... p-preview/

Re: Starting go in your later years

Is it possible to become a competitive player when you start learning go around your 20s? I visited a go salon a while ago to learn how to play, but the owner said that I was too old and wouldn't become a strong player, he told me it would have been better if I learned when I was younger. Really ...

Re: Taking lessons - is it really helpful?

Monday nights is about an hour of tsumego, then lecture. Tuesday's I watch the league a and b games and reviews. Wednesday I focus on joseki after work. Thursday is my league game and review. Friday Saturday I do lots of tsumego and try to play online if I can find time. Sunday is go club, usually ...

Re: Taking lessons - is it really helpful?

I take lessons from yunguseng dojang. After one year, I play much stronger than when I started, but am not a dan player or even close. More like 10-8k I don't do it for dreams of immediate and swift progress, I don't have the time outside of work to study enough for that to occur. What it does get ...

Re: KGS updated...

Another possible bug, in lecture style presentation when you have a list of games, the player names are no longer populated into the chat area when a game is selected. I was hoping the update would make the names and move times actually display in the player name fields, but it still just shows this ...

Re: So it seems Sean Plott (Day[9]) is seriously interested

It appears that he was a pro player for a number of years, and then retired to become a commentator. Now he is working as a game designer.

Re: Failure of free club culture

Unless you are setting up a boot camp style weeks long gathering for formalized training, it is probably best to treat everyone as they come. Determine their comfort level (perhaps consider asking them) and then try to work always slightly ahead of them to pull them forwards.

Re: DDK books?

If you like school workbook style, I like the Level Up series from baduktopia. I feel it was very helpful when I started at around 18k. A nice progression, and was fun as well. It introduces lots of techniques, joseki, fuseki, and more. I'm on the second series now, jump level up, and am on the ...

I'm about 10k kgs, after 1800 answered it has me pegged at 4.9k as well. Hmmmmm.
I am digging it though, the questions presented seem suitable to my level, and I am learning some shape and fighting techniques.

Re: Forum policies for teachers

There is a for sale style classifieds section. Why not a teacher section? How else would I be able to find out what is out there if everyone is forbidden from asking or talking about it? Before I learned of a group via a post which was later killed, I didn't even realize such a thing existed. To my ...

Introductions, perhaps in order.

Since this sub exists, I guess I should post here.

I'm foe, and first learned of the game in this past June. I play in the Yunguseng Dojang league on KGS at about 10k, and weekly at the local club. I would love to improve towards at least 1 dan, but at my age have no delusions of easy progression ...
