Re: RichFish's study plan
I haven't updated in a couple days: I am a teacher and my schedule is hectic this week with testing. I have still managed to get a game each day (not much more) and I just finished my first read of "Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go." My next steps include going through all of the diagrams from that ...

Re: Review request, 17k
What are some things that I can do to try and get over that bad habit, then?
I'm keeping in mind that I only have about 12 games under my belt since I've come back to the game, and I didn't study seriously at all when I played before several, several years ago. (God, like 6 or 7 years?) So I'm not ...

Re: Review request, 17k
I have... I thought overall I was much better in this game with keeping my shapes connected and safe instead of being greedy on my attacks and hurting myself. I've also tried to stop forcing bad sente moves as much as possible.
Am I misreading my progress on that front?
Edit: In your review you ...

Review request, 17k
Hello, everyone! I just got out of a game for today and it's left me scratching my head for two reasons.
1) My opponent surrendered even though I was quite certain he was ahead of me. Now this could just be my inability to accurately read the board, but I certainly didn't think that a surrender was ...

Re: RichFish's study plan
3/7
I played two games this morning. One was a silly loss due to a major mistake where I did not read out a few moves and instead played quickly. My main lesson from that game was to just play more slowly.

3/6 game results
Below is my latest game played against a 15k+ on IGS. I feel like I was absolutely destroyed: I felt like I was being guided by the nose all game long.
My observations:
1) I feel like my shapes are too loose. I was trying to keep my opponent out of my moyo in the center (failed ...

Re: RichFish's study plan
Yesterday was rough: Worked all day, came home to record kifu from that morning, went to bed. Still, I got a good amount of tsumego done throughout the day. Most of the problems below about 13k are solved within a few seconds now, which is nice considering they most certainly weren't such a quick ...

Thank you for all the wonderful advice, everyone. I'll be attempting to put this into practice in games to come.

Re: RichFish's study plan
3/5
I woke up early today to get my game in before work because my shift is long. I'm not sure, but I think I may play better at 5 AM!
My game today was a victory by over 50 points against a 16k player on IGS. I will need to record the kifu and get it in my binder when I get home. On today's ...

Re: RichFish's study plan
Update: 3/4/14 game- Loss by 2.5 points with a 3 stone handicap for myself. I will post my initial thoughts here that I also posted in my review request. Lessons learned will come after I can devote some time to sit with this one.

3/4/14- Close loss, 3 stone handicap
Hello, all! This is my first game that I am submitting for review. Below are a few of the areas that I am concerned about with this game in particular.
1) I am black in this game. This was the first game that I have played with a handicap on IGS (3 stones). I was against a 15k+ player. (Not sure ...

Re: RichFish's study plan
So far, for 3/1/14 to 3/3/14, goals one and two have been met each day. Game results are as follows.
3/1- Victory by resignation
3/2- Victory by resignation
3/3- Victory by resignation
The game from 3/2 was very close in the early game, my midgame gave me a solid lead. I will want to review this ...

RichFish's study plan
I intend to track my progress on a daily basis to track my improvement at this wonderful game. Below are my personal expectations.
1) Play a game of Go on the IGS servers. All games must be saved in SGF format. A paper kifu must be kept in a binder as well, with moves being quickly analyzed as ...
