Re: Running out of stones
Ah, prisoner exchange, very clever, I hadn't thought of that (that's how inexperienced I am). I guess if running out of stones is not something that can happen in real-world play, nor is it a scenario considered by any specific rules, then I won't have to implement it in software.

Grüezi Patrick, or would that be bonjour for you? You’ll like it here
Grüezi is fine, although Bonjour would still be within the limits of my French
And since I also use iOS I’d be interested in your app!

Re: End of game under AGA rules vs .sgf files
Thanks @skydyr for the link to the commentary document - had I seen this before I probably would not have started this thread. Although Bill's clarifications are still needed to make everything crystal-clear.

End of game under AGA rules vs .sgf files
After studying the AGA rules ( external link to PDF ) I have a few questions which all revolve around rule 10:
10) Disputes: If the players disagree about the status of a group of stones left on the board after both have passed, play is resumed [...] The game is over when the players agree on the ...

Hi from Switzerland
Hi everybody. My name's Patrick, but I also leave tracks here and there under the Internet handle herzbube.
I have been fascinated by Go since I was introduced to it 25 years ago, but I am actually a pretty bad player (probably 20-15k). What I am better at (hopefully) is programming, so what I have ...
