Re: Another rating question
I think you need to not play but actually win 5 games to become a provisional 17k. And those games need not qualify as rating games, obviously

Re: No game after disconnect
Oren, sorry I did not reply earlier, but I believe the server rest scenario is unlikely, given that the server was as crowded after my disconnect as before.

Re: No game after disconnect
Hmmm... That is the kind of server policy i feared, and this scenario is very likely to have happened given the game position at the time I lost connection. So the conclusion is, if the game is yours and you lose connection, your opponent can make it a no game, but if your opponent is winning he ...

Re: No game after disconnect
Yes, that's what I thought too, but apart if I have dreamt the whole thing entirely, I swear we were playing yose, and the game has disappeared. Maybe some odd bug on the English client's end.

No game after disconnect
Hello,
I was playing a game today on the tygem windows client, and at some point my opponent seemed to think for a long time - actually both clocks had stopped working in my client . I figured I had been disconnected, shut down the client, and logged back on. When I located my ex-opponent, I saw he ...

Re: A DDK's baby steps
Thanks S2, quite a few interestings ideas in your comments. In particular, the attack on the left Black group would have been quite interesting to try out, but I never saw the weakness

Re: A DDK's baby steps
Hi everyone, it's been a while, but I am still alive, and still playing. I needed to take a break for a litle while: I had to admit that I was not having the fun a game is supposed to bring in your life. It had all become too serious and even tense. I guess I was just too focused on improving. I ...

Server size increase?
It seems to me that this week has seen an increase in the capacity of some of the Tygem servers: I used to be unable to connect when the player number was around 2500 on a given server, because it was full. But right now I was able to log onto Korea I, even though there are 4500+ players connected ...

Re: How often is that, really?
Same here, plus a particularly bad game, even played in the morning, will come back to haunt me at night[emoji30] I envy those who can be more detached, but I guess this is work in progress.

Re: What type of hardware do you use to read/post on L19?
I use Tapatalk on an android phone. Works great for reading and posting simple text like this, but sgf files and diagrams show up as text, which is a bit of a problem. On the upside, the timeline reading mode is very convenient.

Re: GoPanda2 on Ubuntu
Hmmm, that looks odd to me, I remember having to install a library for the Tygem client on Ubuntu, but I have recently installed the latest Gopanda client, and nothing additional was necessary. I would follow the advice above and launch using command line, and try to analyze, or post, the relevant ...

Re: A DDK's baby steps
Yes, I am on DGS, and have played a handful of games, but for some reason I do not like it much. If I have a lot of games going, I find it hard to keep track of what's going on on each of them, and if I have only a few, I find it really too slow a pace for my liking. I also end up analyzing each ...
