Thanks for the confirmation, we managed to get to the W+0.5 score in the end (luckily each group ended up with one eye so the extra points cancelled out) :)

I think any decision that implies 100% win/lose for one side or the other would be quite an unsatisfactory. Even flipping a coin would be better than that.

I feel "Rematch. Void the game and play it again" is the best solution. We can watch another exciting game and the stronger player naturally ...

However, I think both snapshots are not the correct score. With Japanese rule, it seems white might need to capture the two stones and black needs to place one more in it, so ...

Have you considered sponsoring players to attend Go schools in China/Korea/Japan for a few months/weeks? That might help build up the first batch of strong players, and then they can teach others :)

China is trotting out Fan, who won 7 straight last year, with Ke Jie and a random combination of 3 other players

They are not totally random though: Chen Yaoye won the last Bailing Cup, Dang Yifei won the LG Cup, and Zhou Ruiyang ...
