Re: Dumb Question -- Using Leela to Analyze My Games?

Well, that's a whole lot simpler. I don't know how I missed it. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Dumb Question -- Using Leela to Analyze My Games?

Funny you should mention that, I saw Nick Sibicky using Leela/Lizzie in his recent videos so I started playing around with it last weekend. Took me a bit of time to figure out, but here are the steps for getting it set up.

⋅  Download Lizzie. (Pick CPU or GPU based on your computer ...

Seems like it was a good 'candidate' for the fuseki name.

Re: Hi! New here, and i got a question about stones.

Hello!

I'm not an expert, but the dark green hue does indicate you probably have yunzi stones. They are made in both single-convex and double-convex styles.

From Yellow Mountain Imports on how to care for yunzi stones:
The black stones arrive with a little white powder on them. This is normal ...

Re: hi gg tx

I have a habit of always saying "hi and hf!" at the start of a match and "ty gg" at the end. Picked it up playing Starcraft where it's considered bad-mannered if a player doesn't at least say "gg" after a match.

I'm glad I do this for three reasons:

1. It's polite and I don't like being rude (even ...

Facebook is developing a Go AI

It's not often you see the game of Go in mainstream media, but I was pleasantly surprised today when I saw a deluge of articles about a new Facebook project.

[Article Link]

It seems there's more to the story than the simple fact that it's Facebook that is developing the AI. They are applying so ...

Re: Learning sequences

As always, it depends. On the level of the asker.
And the level of the askee.
Whenever it comes to teaching (education) -- communication in general --
there's no one-size-fit all. We must look at the individuals involved.
Case by case. I knew I would get a sensible answer from Ed that shows I need ...

Learning sequences

The wonderful thing about online go is that we get to see all sorts of information that we simply would not have access to otherwise, including lots of high-level joseki sequences. The whole idea of joseki is that every move has a very important reason for being played (or many!). If you don't have ...

Re: 13k Review

Thank you very much for your time!

I was feeling a bit abashed about this game after losing such a big group but now I'm glad I posted. It's pleasing to know I was moving in a workable direction, even if my execution leaves much to be desired.

You both have given me much to consider with regard ...

13k Review

Hi reader,

I want to give a little context for this game:

It seems fairly obvious that failing to run out with the big group in the middle was one of the key reasons I lost this game. However, I've lately been in a slump where it feels like I'm playing too slowly and/or passively in the early and ...

Hey, it's Saint Ravitt. I see your games on OGS all the time.

Now, I'm sure there will come along a much stronger player who will be able to give more specific guidance. As far as advice is concerned, I agree with what Uberdude is saying, but I'm going to try to word what he's saying differently ...

Re: Aiming for the center (15k)

Excellent! I've read that a good move does at least two different things and I can see concrete examples of that in the moves you've suggested. Your variations are very thought-provoking - for instance, I would never have thought to tenuki on .

I can't emphasize enough how useful it is to hear the ...

Re: Aiming for the center (15k)

These comments are wonderful!

You're right. I was thinking of the empty corner joseki.
Goodness, I was so close to losing big locally. I didn't realize how lucky I was.
This shape comes up a lot in my games and I'm glad to learn how to prevent it (elephant eye) as well as a proper response to it ...

Re: Hi everybody!

I attended my first Portland Go Club meeting on Tuesday and played a few 13x13 games with another new player. It was a bit intimidating to have strong players watch and make comments, but it was also a blast! I particularly liked the experience of playing games face-to-face and I definitely learned ...
