Insei league dead?
I've just started following the Go world again, and am disappointed to see that this interesting idea seems to have died. Can anyone tell me why it ended up not working, and whether there is anything similar which is still going?

Re: Books for sale
Three satisfied customers so far. Here's what remains:
Basic Techniques of Go - probably not the best choice for a first book, as the title might suggest, but has interesting material on handicap games.
Graded Go Problems for Beginners, volume 1 - good problems for newish players, or useful ...

Dr. Straw's hardwiring article
I remember an article about 'hardwiring' go problems (i.e. doing them many times, looking at them upside-down, sideways etc. to learn them so well that solving them is completely automatic), probably on Sensei's Library, and IIRC written by DrStraw, but I can't find it any more. Could somebody ...

Re: Trip to Shanghai
I'm in Shanghai now, and have just been to the class of school kids which Li Tianzhu (echoli) teaches. It was a fantastic experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone else going to Shanghai. The kids were all about 2-4 dan, but I think that's considerably weaker than European 2-4 dan. I'm 6 kyu on the ...

Re: New Super Meijin tournament
This is a normal double elimination format, which is used in numerous sport and game tournaments around the world. Re: Trip to Shanghai
Thanks nami, Dante31 and tj86430. I can't really extend my trip for more than a week at either end, which may mean I don't have long enough to visit a go school. The Wuhan school doesn't have any places left this summer and I've inquired about Experience Go in China.
