Admittedly not what I was looking for, but there may still be gems in the follower details that hint how to generalise. I may ponder more at some point.
I suppose I should conclude that there is very limited public knowledge if any about applying maths to the opening and middlegame.
A note on a ...

Re: Go maths literature
I had a thought that maybe I should be more polite re 22 and just say I don't at the moment see why most of 22 is interesting to me.
I also had some defensive thoughts that maybe I want to see more rigour because I worry that any statement people make about go can be nonsense and it is hard to tell ...

Re: Go maths literature
As far I understood, your framework is basically miai counting, which comes with some general bounds (orthodoxy, sentestrat etc which were part of CGT). But further analysis (creator, preventer, follower) is limited to relatively shallow trees with only one (or two) optimal local moves for each side ...

Go maths literature
Hi people.
I've spent a few years thinking about applications of maths to Go. CGT provides THE framework for endgame, so I am more thinking about opening and middlegame, and extensions of endgame theory (this can work surprisingly well in the opening where there are a limited number of good ...

Re: DH records
probably much more going on than I can describe.
Of the things I've noticed, perhaps some were nice Christmas presents.
"Am I too late to register?"
"No, but I'll be angry if you don't play in all your games. Daniel Hu, 5d, No club?"
"OK."
***silence***

Re: Respect the second line
You need to crawl 8 times on the 2nd line to live if that is all you have which is normally clearly worse. Accept crawling on the 2nd line if it is big to do so. Normally this means you have already killed a group if you do so, or live comfortably (with the 3-3) so only need to crawl a few times. Or ...

Re: Miai values in the opening
I think that humans should try to come up with a theory that explains these values. Or at least in comparison to each other.
The key concepts are local shape, assuming high temperature forcing exchanges, with miai on the rest. And then include value of attack which depends on number of moves ...

Re: Move 5
I agree with the point about unsupported invasions. I think we should imagine "expected variations" to see the value of remaining sides, how threatened groups are, and play accordingly.
For example, if you don't want to expand towards a 3-4 when your own 3-4 is approached, then kick and jump for ...

Re: 10k game - question about AI's suggested best move
Probe:
There are big endgame moves at P1 and S8. However each is gote. The cut sacrifices a few stones at no cost (unless it makes W alive when W wasn't), for a larger threat, not just a boundary play but also threatening the entire W group. It turns out that whichever way W responds, either P1 or ...

Re: How is your positional judgement? Game 24
It seems W should block O3 in sente for Q2 and then ponder. B has a lot of territory, perhaps 40pts on the right and another corner with O8 (and maybe O9) aji.
W has 3 random moves at O10, P9, Q9 that barely do anything. Even if they were placed elsewhere, the lower right looks excellent for B ...

Re: How is your positional judgement? Game 28
B has one more stone in the lower right but has captured it all, damaging L4 also. Next, Q8 can keep up an attack, but it doesn't seem to work yet. S9, S7 seem to work even worse though as W naturally gets S5. Later any move around N8 will be threatening. W will need to work to live with 3 weak ...

Surprising. And useful as this is a fairly standard fuseki shape that I've seen (once) even in recent katago self-play.

Re: How is your positional judgement? Game 27
R17 seems misplaced when W is crawling on the top as B adding a move can make it bad. Locally S18 was the shape, but that is inconsistent with the crawl.
On the rest of the board, the lower right corner is very big after which R10 extends slightly too far. Most of all the upper left seems better ...
