Roll Up Reversible Travel Board/Stones?
I'm traveling and would like to take a roll up board and cheap/lightweight plastic stones so I can teach my young grandson when I visit. YMI has a 19x19 roll up set but its not reversible to 9x9. Yes...I can block off the larger play area to 9x9 with paper, but would prefer an actual 9x9 playing ...

Dumb Question -- Using Leela to Analyze My Games?
Dumb question of the month. I have Leela on my PC. Can someone explain how I take my .sgf file and use her to analyze my moves...and my opponents?? How do I tell her to analyze, not play.
No laughter pls!

Re: Living On The Side??
Thanks for all of the reviews and comments. To Joaz's point, I think that hit on my mistake. I played the 4th line with the intention of living on the side, not playing into the middle. I knew better. Chalk it up to (another) tactical mistake and (another) lesson learned.

Living On The Side??
Attached are the first 23 moves of a game I played (I'm Black). As you can see, I made an approach on the left side in and . Unfortunately, I frequently find that I fail to squeak out enough space to live and then lose 5-10 stones trying to do so. This game was no different.

Re: Game Review Request
My plan in moves 11-33 was to keep my opponent pressed to the 2nd and 3rd line. The wall facing up would give me influence towards the center.
But instead you pushed from behind on the 5th line (their 4th line), and then left cutting points in your wall. I mention this not to be mean but because ...

Some thoughts on the earlier moves.
wrong direction. R11
Why tenuki? Certainly you need to continue the attack. Hane M11?
Thanks for the review!
On I pondered hard on direction. I thought I should pincer UP because I judged I was stronger in the upper right corner vs lower right. Are ...

Game Review Request
I could use some help with my game. I'm playing B against a slightly stronger opponent. After I lost by about 18 points, I reviewed my play and saw some things that I probably should have done differently. Tell me what you think about these mis-plays and any others that you find.

Re: Can This Shape Live??
Thanks for the ideas. We looked at the possibility of sacrificing the 2 P stones and trying to escape with the other 4 down the side but didn't see a way to make it work. Black moves to S14 and/or T14 cuts off that avenue of escape.

Can This Shape Live??
I'm playing white and thought the corner was fairly settled. It was early in the game and I tenuki-ed to a strategic spot elsewhere. I just wasn't paying enough attention. A few moves later, my opponent (black) made the shape-stealing inside move at R18. I groaned and figured my entire group was now ...

Gnu Go 3.8 "Play from here"?
Hey all. I'm running 3.8 with Drago. As part of my game review, I would like to step backwards, perhaps make a different move, and tell Drago (or the Gnu Go engine) to "play from here". I can't seem to find a way to have the engine pick up at some point of my choosing. The game goes to full "manual ...

Re: Cutting Principles Explained?
The simple (or not so simple, as you may see it) answer is that you have to read out before you cut and decide if the result is to your liking or not.
Definitely NOT so simple! Being able to read 3 or 4+ moves ahead is certainly a big part of the problem and a goal. But if I have some principles ...

Cutting Principles Explained?
I'm finding that a serious weakness in my game is cutting. When to, when not to, how to defend against, etc. I frequently cut only to find myself in big trouble 3 or 4 moves later. I guess I'm just not "getting it".
I'm slowly working my way thru "Attack and Defense". But is there another book ...

What's your experience getting a game at around your rank on KGS with a slower time setting to your liking ?
Not great. Very few takers....or some offering 4 stone handicaps. I'd rather play against someone at my level (or slightly better).

12-14Kyu Player Looking for Online Games
Hey all. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this outreach.
I'm having trouble finding online players at my level (prob ~12-14Kyu) on KGS or OGS. And I really don't play very well with a ticking 10min clock on the screen... ...too much pressure which leads to LOTS of mistakes. Fast or "blitz ...
