Re:

Welcome back.
Thank you
And many thanks to you and Joaz Banbeck for looking into this game!
I still have some concentration problems and the off-board life intruded my go studies rather rudely the last days. So i didn't manage to work through all of your comments yet.
Can anyone tell me what is ...

playing again - asking for review

Hi,
i just started playing again since i stopped 2 years ago due to health reasons. This is the first game i consider worth asking a review for.
It would be great if someone looked into it.

The main objective was to make strong groups, use them to attack and figuring out how to make profit from ...

Bill mentioned white's liberties. Why? :study:

Now i got it, there is a ‘real’ ladder ( :b5: at o2), not just a ‘kind of‘ ladder :!:

Many thanks to both of you for talking me through it!

(i think i’ll give meself the “brick-head of the day award” :D )

Re: Review Request ~15k

On my board i played it out like this:

$$c Original Situation Corrected
$$ . . . . . . . . .|
$$ . . . 3 X O . . .|
$$ . . X 2 O X . . .|
$$ . . 5 4 1 7 . . .|
$$ . . . 6 . . . . .|
$$ . . . . . . . . .|

But replaying it in the diagram i didn’t check it properly.
Still my blind ...

Re: Review Request ~15k

Yes, I was hinting at the ladder. Sorry, I didn't realize that it was obvious to you.

Nothing to feel sorry for! I still miss obvious points frequently, and sometimes i’ve just "got tomatos on my eyes" (don’t know how to say that in english )

My previous post shouldn’t sound ungrateful or grumpy ...

Do you mean the rank below the user name?
I’m very insecure about how solid the ranking around me is at ogs and therefor mine too. Or did you mean the OP and i’m really slow of understanding today?

I’m not sure wether you are
a) pointing at the obvious: ladder,
or
b) i’m thick as a brick.

In case a) thinking of it as a ladder probably anchors it better in the mind.

Re: 11k vs 9k handicap game KGS

Hi,

since i’m only ~15kyu ogs i looked at your game more out of curiosity, please take my comments with some shovels of salt.

wouldn’t p17 be better to defend the corner and attack at the same time? See

b100 isn’t that a bit slow at that stage of the game? More like an endgame move?

b160 as a ...

Re: kirjoittaessani's journal

Howdy,

i can confirm the benefits of tsumego. I started playing Go again in December after a break of approx. 9 month (about 20-18kyu before).
After about 2 weeks of daily practice i noticed that i could read ahead a lot easier during my games. (i did at least 25 a day in this time, sometimes up to ...

Re: Review Request ~15k

Many thanks Ed

Finding the atari was easy, once you told me. I totally agree about the importance! I had similar situations before, though without the crosscut, and just blocked below (my opponents too). I’ll try out some variations with supporting white stones in the corner to stock up my toolbox ...

Review Request ~15k

One more on my quest for serious games.
My opponent admitted later that he(?) "just fooled around" at some points. Still good enough against me. I rather enjoyed this game, instead of attacking aggressivly to win, he(?) just played better.
But i often can’t distinguish between good play and ...

Re: Shouldn't Go have English terminologies for US and EU?

I hope my first post doesn’t come across to harsh or brusque. I find it hard to communicate all nuances properly using just written words. It was by no means meant personally.
Your question touched two topics i’m very passionate about: diversity and languages (including dialects).
And i wrote ...
